Re: Famous People That You Have Met

About 40 years ago I met Paul & Linda McCartney & kids.We were on the same flight from Kennedy airport to London. They were very polite & friendly! Paul went out of his way to to talk to his fans.Even thanked us for loving his music!!

I also met Tony Danza after a taping of his show "Who's The Boss" in Hollywood. He was very friendly & gave me an autograph. We even chatted a bit about our mutual hometown of Brooklyn,N. Y.

I also met Tony Randal twice. Both times he was very arrogant!!

Lastly,I met Telly Savallas at Sheraton Universal Hotel where he lived when I stayed there on vacation. He too was very arrogant & full of himself!!

Oh, when I was a kid I also met Soupy Sales & Jackie Mason.

I was born and grew up in Southern California so quite a few.  When I was about 11 or 12 a neighbor girl's uncle was the captain on John Wayne's yacht that was moored in Newport Beach.  We used to go out on that frequently until he sold it.  He was always very nice to me.

There used to be many restaurant in the LA area with unlisted phone numbers where the celebrities went.  Anyone could go there but you had to know about them.  They did not want tourists there.  We used to go to Ma Maison often because the food was great and they had a wonderful patio.  There were always famous people there.

Growing up my sister and I were always taught to leave them alone and not stare.

Now it seems they want to be photographed at various restaurants, etc.

This reminds me that I too met John Wayne, and he bought me (and several other ladies) a present. I was working in a hospital where JW was a patient. He was brought to our dept and was chatting with us while waiting for a test to begin. Another employee was selling necklaces we were looking at, and he told us all to pick one and he'd buy them for us :-) They were inexpensive and he liked doing that kind of thing, so we accepted. We refused at first but it made him happy, so...

Wow you guys!   Haven't met anyone famous.   Saw Tom Bosley (Howard Cunningham) in the hotel lobby I was staying at and a very angry Charo at the airport but that is it.

I did see Mike Birbiglia after a show in the lobby and the lead singer Cara Faye from Shiny Toy Guns but was too in awe to have been 5 feet from her that I stood there like a statue. Lol

I doubt if I would still be alive if I had met Steven Tyler.  Was on the front row of one of his latest concerts and we had a short conversation but nothing like being at a party with him.  He seems unbelievably nice!

Some people I've made eye-contact with, mostly from my years in NYC. I've posted the backstories on these on the BBs before, so I'll just list:

Billy Dee Williams in the 1980s--so handsome and nice. My date was a bit jealous of my instant crush on BDW.

John Lennon pushing Sean in Central Park: we exchanged smiles.

Greta Garbo, ahead of me in the pantyhose line at EJ Korvette's, around the corner from her house.  Still looked gorgeous.  Eye contact, not friendly, like a "please no" look, so I said nothing.

Barbra Steisand in the early 70s, making a movie on the Upper West Side near where I lived. I don't know if it was stage makeup or what, but she had the most beautiful complexion and hair.

Queen Elizabeth in the 1970s in London, doing a "walkabout."  She has a beautiful complexion, too.

In the ladies room at various Broadway plays:  Swoosie Kurtz, Alice Walker (the writer), Glenn Close.

Coming away from the Ritz in Boston, Lauren Bacall--very forbidding looking, more than Garbo was, but still very beautiful in her older years.

I used to see Tony Randall grocery shopping at Fairway on Broadway, in full stage makeup.

When I was a student and worked as a temp on off-days, I arranged a reception for the late funk singer Rick James--and he was really nice.  ( was temping for a publicity director at Paramount Pictures (then in the Gulf + Western Building near Central Park South).  First day on the job, I had to find a performance space, a piano, and also get a Sabrett cart from Central Park to come up to the space so that refreshments would be available.  I loved that temp job.  I was asked back, so I guess the arrangements were OK.

I met President George Bush, Sr. and shook his hand at the NIH Hospital in Bethesda, MD many years ago.  Also met Frank Herzog who was a news announcer at Lake Forest Mall many years ago.  Last but not least, I met Hiliary Clinton at the NY State Fair many years ago.

Re: Famous People That You Have Met

I don't like the word "famous" as in my opinion, anyone and/or anything can be seen as that word. I have known/ drag raced and went partying with actor Peter Fonda, and went to high school with actor Nick Nolte.
