I'm on day three of meds that read:
Augmenten 125-825 mg (one tablet twice a day)
Well, they're making me sick... like sick enough that I can't leave the house, mostly nauseau and dizziness.
Do you think my doctor might allow me to break them in half and take them for twice as long?
If not, I'll have to stop them and ask for something else.
I am taking them with food, as directed.

NO. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BREAK THEM UP BUT DO EAT BEFORE YOU TAKE THEM. I DON'T UNDERESTAND THE DIZZY WITH THIS DRUG BUT THEY CAN MAKE YOU NAUSEATED. I WOULD CALL MY DOCTOR BEFORE I MADE ANY ALTERATION. THIS IS A PRETTY SERIOUS DRUG AND ONE THAT YOU SHOULD SEEK YOUR DOCTOR ADVICE BEFORE ALTERING IN ANY WAY.

It would probably depend on if getting a lower dose is enough to do what it's supposed to. 1/2 the pills may not do the trick. You could always call the pharmacist and ask their opinion.

Call your doctor ASAP. I was given that drug and I can't tell you how it hurt my stomach! I now have it right on my chart that I can't take it.

Augmenten is a powerful antibiotic that works but is has awful side affects.
As another poster posted, DO NOT break up your medication! Talk to your doctor, maybe she/he can prescribe something to ease your side affects.

Try having a full stomach - a meal, not just tea and toast - about 30 min. before taking them. Eating when/as you take them, or right after, is not the way - the pill is still hitting an empty stomach when you do that.
Been there and done that with codeine.

Did you not see the first 9 words of the thread title?

If it's making you ill, please stop.
I can't take augmentin. It contains a "kicker" ingredient as my pharmacist calls it that can cause serious liver issues.
I have a real pharmacist, one with his own shop. Not a Walgreen's hack.
