please, talk to your doctor AND your pharmacist!
This medicine may not be as effective or could be harmful if you do not use the exact tablet form your doctor has prescribed.
Take the medicine at the same time each day.
The Augmentin tablet should be swallowed whole.

If your physician is away or unavailable ask to speak to whomever is covering for him/her. Sometimes the pharmacist can help you too, but they will just tell you to call your doc.

@house_cat, your doctor has prescribed a strong antibiotic, for presumably an infection that needs a strong antibiotic. You don't want to dilute the effect.
Some medications should never be cut in half, and one reason is that cutting a coated pill in half leaves an uncoated side - which will make you twice as sick as the whole uncut pill because the buffered coating for your stomach isn't there.

Stop taking the Augmentin and call your doctor.
IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO THEM YOU COULD BE DOING MUCH HARM....EVEN FATAL.
I can not take it at all. Broke out in a bad case of hives. On my Allergy list!
Other antibiotics can work just as well for you.

I can't take augmentin. It contains a "kicker" ingredient as my pharmacist calls it that can cause serious liver issues.
I have a real pharmacist, one with his own shop. Not a Walgreen's hack.
dont discredit pharmacists that work in walgreens or cvs......they are certainily NOT "hacks." i have a number of friends who are pharmacists at these types of places and they got their degrees and did well in school.....and worked hard to get where they are.

If she's been taking them and her symptoms have not involved shortness of breath, swelling of the mouth or tongue, chest pain or hives, it's hardly likely to be fatal or even serious.
When someone is given Augmentin, there are not a huge handful of antibiotics that will work "just as well." She can try having a full stomach before taking it, and drinking some ginger ale or sucking on ginger candy, before giving up, if her doctor feels she really needs the drug's strength.

Call your doctor and stop taking the drug. My health record also states that my digestive system cannot handle this drug to the point that I could not leave my house either. The pains and cramps were horrible not to mention running to the bathroom all day. Do not suffer call your doctor and get the medication changed.

Thank you all for the helpful responses. You confirmed what I had already been thinking. I'm not taking tonight's dose and I'm going to call tomorrow for an alternative medicine. I'm taking it for strep and sinus infection.

Please ..... as you state, allergy means hives and difficlulty breathing. If she has hives she should not take it, but otherwise, many people suffer nausea when taking antibiotics and it could be the underlying infection causing the dizziness and nausea. Let's suggest she call her doctor!!!

Let me just add here that oftentimes you can have dizziness from a sinus/strep and an upset stomach and that might be the underlying cause and you are wise to call your physician. I wish you the BEST.
