So I just purchased my first bottle of Wen TT Oil. I'm SUPER excited due to everything I've read and I cannot wait for it to be delivered to my home. I just wanted to get all the tips I can on how to use the oils. Everyone talks about doing overnight treatments and I'm wondering exactly how to do that and how much oil I should use. Is it ok to leave on longer than just one night? I have long, thickish hair. It's about down to my mid back. I have some issues with dry patches on my scalp. I've been using the TT CC, which I love, but I'm hoping the oil helps even more. All and any advice is greatly appreciated! Smiley Happy

jmm, welcome to the WEN forum!! You will love your TT oil, I promise. Even though I've been using WEN a long time, I'm a fairly new user of the oils. My hair grows so fast now and my scalp is healthy. I put oil on my scalp before I color to protect my scalp, and put it on after to make sure my scalp is healthy. There's also a lot of other uses for the oils, especially TT oil. Once I started doing scalp treatments, my cuticles improved and my nails started growing faster as well. My nail tech can attest to that!

To give a quick answer on how to use it - for a scalp treatment, use a dropper of oil on each quadrant of your head - right side, left side, left back, right back. Start at your center part, gently squeeze the bulb as you run the dropper down your scalp in 3-4 rows on each section. Then, get your fingers up under your hair and massage the oil in. Sometimes if my scalp is really dry that gets absorbed almost immediately so I add a little more. You just don't want so much it's dripping. If you do it about an hour before you go to bed it's almost all absorbed by your skin and hair. I've left it on for another day, sometimes as is, sometimes adding a little more. When I put it on my hair, I put a few drops in my hand and scrunch and finger comb it through my hair, concentrating on my ends. A lot of ladies put their hair up in a clip or bun. I've gone to Tai Chi class, grocery store, etc. with oil in my hair by putting it under a baseball cap.

When I cleanse it out, I use either TT cc or CA for first cleanse and sometimes on my scalp for second cleanse.

There's a really great thread about the WEN oils. https://community.qvc.com/forums/wen/topic/349254/benefits-of-oils.aspx

You are going to fall in LOVE with that oil!

I use it on my scalp the night before I cleanse. On several occasions, I overslept and left it on until the following morning. Nothing bad happened.

I recently started using the oils in my leave-ins. I first tried it with the CC and loved those results. Someone recommended using ReMoist and oil as a leave-in and I loved that so much, I bought a separate oil just for ReMoist.

After I rub the TT through my scalp and hair, the excess gets rubbed on my cuticles.

In addition to what okie gave you, there is an old thread about the uses of oils.

Okiebug gave you great advice. You are going to love it. I add a few drops with Epsom salts to a foot bath, my feet and toe nails have never been better. Also, I don't get out regularly in the winter so I have been known to leave the oils on for a few nights in a row, I just add a little more each day. The oils are great also after showering on damp skin, let it absorb and just patn dry. NoT sure if you would want to use TT after showering but I love the POM and my skin has never been softer. Have fun with your oil.

I also love the Tea Tree oil for my face. I find it absorbs better than argan oil and never leaves my skin looking shiny or feeling greasy. Because it also has eucalyptus in it, I used it to massage into my temples, forehead, and cheek bones when I had a sinus infection - it's like a mild Vicks VapoRub.

I have several different oils and I also like to add a few drops of whatever scent I like and add them to my regular body lotion. I get the benefits of the body lotion with a boost from the oil and it smells great while using less of my oils to moisturize my whole body.

You can also drop some in the tub if you like to take baths. It's not quite as slick as some other oils, but do be careful whenever you use an oil in the bath, as it can make the tub slick once it drains and you can slip getting out or the next time you step in.

jmmjmm113, welcome to the Wen forum and welcome to Wen!!! Smile

Everyone has given you great tips about using the oils... so all you need to do is to just start using them. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

You also might want to try the TT CC for your hair as well. There are a few good Wen - Cleansing Conditioner Discovery Kits available at QVC which include the TT CC.

My hair used to grow at a snail's pace. Once I started using the TT CC and my own 95% jojoba oil / 5% TT oil blend, my hair started growing over 1 inch per month.

Below I have included links to some other TT oil thread. For easy access, you can find them in the Wen 101 thread (post #4 -- in Wen Products)

Best of luck!!

Thank you all so much for your tips! I'm really excited and can't wait for the TT oil to finally be here! I think it is supposed to be to my house by Friday which means I can use it Saturday overnight and do my normal routine of cleansing on Sunday. Is there a certain CC you guys use after oil treatments? Currently I only have TT CC, LAV CC, and 613 (I'm waiting on my FIG to arrive). Thanks again for all the help and the links! Smiley Happy

It doesn't matter which CC you use, as they are all effective in cleansing the oil residue from your hair and scalp.

In my regimen, I use TT Oil overnight, cleanse with either TT or 613 first cleanse, Fig second cleanse and ReMoist + Lavender Oil as my leave-in.

I did my first oil treatment on Saturday night, and I definitely think I'm going to become addicted. I'm already thinking of purchasing the SOB and FIG oils. I did have one more question: I have two cats and I'm normally quite a paranoid person, so I made sure to barricade myself in my room the night I did the TT oil treatment. Then when I woke up in the morning, I washed all the sheets and pillowcases. My cats are free to roam where they please so I just wanted to make sure the area was safe. Now logically I know that a cat has to ingest it for TT to harm them, but my cats are my babies so I'm just being super careful. I own one of those Turbie things and I'm wondering what the thoughts are on wrapping your head in a towel to do the oil treatments? Do you think the hair will still absorb the oil or that most of it will be absorbed by the towel? I'm thinking of using the turbie next time, but wondered if anyone had noticed different results from wrapping their hair in a towel. Thank you!

Jmm, I know some women use the turbie twist with a plastic cap underneath it...You can buy those plastic processing caps at any beauty supply store--I think even some drug stores carry them.

I think alot of us recommend doing it that way because the turbie twist isn't great for your hair--it kinda roughs up the cuticle.

I just use one of hubs old cotton t-shirts...I sometimes use the plastic cap under it and sometimes not...Just so you know, if you wear the plastic cap under anything, unless the t-shirt or turbie twist is on tight, it most likely will slip off during the night...So in your case i'd just use the t-shirt w/o the plastic cap.

IMHO, turbie twist isn't bad but the cotton t-shirt works better and keeps hair smoother and less chance of getting frizzed.
