HELP, please! Really, really oily hair and face.....

Hello everyone! My daughter in law has very oily hair and face. I gave her some of my SAM to try and she said it made her hair even oilier ... I told her to call the number on the bottle, as Chaz always says to do. I hope she does, but I'm not counting on it. Have any of you who have very oily hair and face use WEN? What have you had success with? THANKS!

What do you mean tea tree oil treatments? I have oily hair and wash every other day and have avoided cleaning conditioners because of this. Please explain your process and products. Thanks!

Tigriss, I couldn't afford to try a zillion different things when I first started on Wen, so I got the POM CC and a tea tree oil. The SAM cleansing conditioner was 'nice' but didn't give me the volume I need(hair was very thin then) plus the menthol-tingle scared me.lol POM was much more for me...

Anyways, I used a couple of droppers full of oil every other night...Like Chaz shows, put some on the front, sides and back of your hair and gently massage in...leave it overnight and cleanse as usual in the a.m. You don't need to use so much oil that it's running all over...Just enough to moisten your scalp a bit and be able to work it in....Runny=too much.

Oil balances your scalp so it's like, "Oh hey, she's putting oil in so I don't have to make so much--cool!"...and after a bit your scalp gets the clue to stop putting out so much oil. Plus, using the cleansing conditioner doesn't strip your scalp or hair--so again, your scalp recognizes that it's getting to keep it's protective oils, so it doesn't have to work so hard to make oil.

I was always super oily and would shampoo everyday--possibly every other if I used a dry shampoo/powder between washings...And of course I'd have to still use a super-heavy duty conditioner or protein pack on my damaged ends. Wen balances all that out so over time, you can go longer between cleansings because when you do cleanse, you're not stripping away anything your scalp/hair needs to be healthy Smiley Happy

chickenmoo, I've always really liked Bobbi Brown's quote:

It takes an oil to balance an oil.

but your explanation is way more visual (and much funnier):

"Oh hey, she's putting oil in so I don't have to make so much--cool!"

Re: HELP, please! Really, really oily hair and face.....

I am 40 years old and still have extremely oily skin. It's also acne prone, sensitive, and I have Seborrheic Dermatitis on my scalp, which is an oily condition too. I have managed to stretch washings to every other day without looking like an oil slick pre wen (I tried it this week, didn't wash with Wen yesterday and was fine too!) just by switching to a sulfate free cleanser. I definitely agree with everyone though, we need more astringent products at times but the oils and extracts in the suggested flavors are naturally so and will work. I also have started TT oil treatments with the Wen TT oil but have regularly done oil treatments on my scalp and hair for a long time anyway so it's not really new for me. I have also switched to using Wen as my skincare....I use BGT in the AM without my Clarisonic, then in the evening use Kids Apple to remove my makeup, then BGT with my clarisonic and then spritz BGT RTM on my face and chest and neck and follow with the TT oil. I've been doing this a week and let me say that my oil production was WAYYYY down yesterday....I didn't even have to repowder exept at lunch. That's a BIG deal for me. Btw I use mineral makeup from various brands including Bare Minerals.

Thia, thanks for sharing this information. I have a very oily complexion. I just got my BGT CC & RTM in my TSV, so I'm going to follow your routine for a few weeks and see if it helps.
