Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hey everyone, I decided today to grocery shop instead of tomorrow as more rain, today isn't too bad at all 57 outside now, and cloudy but I decided to trim my deck railings with my Christmas lights instead of doing it with 20 degrees and windy... This way I'm ahead of the game.  Got the shovels out too as last year my hubby piled wood in front of the shovels, ( not to smart) and I had a heck of a time getting to my scoops.  I have them down now, put the snow brush in the car, changed out the car mats to the rubber ones.  I'm ready... well not really  Hahaha

I did my Gazelle today and walked, tomorrow will be another TG day.  Laura i heard that as well and I can tell my TG has made me much stronger,  I couldn't do 1 legged squats on a level 4 before and now I do them on a 7, 3 sets of 8 on each leg.  My shoulders are funky though and I can't go up in weight or my rotators will give me fits, but oh well, like foxxie said you just do what you can not to irritate some other issue.

Nomless got your message thanks and hopefully that won't happen again.

The days sure go fast, or the time, its almost 3:30 here already, seems it should still be morning.  I do not like it dark so early and it will only get worse especially when we change the clocks once again.  I wish they would leave it alone.

Quite a baseball game yesterday, Cubs/Brewers, with Brewers winning.  Another game tongiht.  I' so love my baseball.

Ya'all have a good rest of the day!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@JudyL, I wish I could mail you mine, 😂.  Mine is by Tony Little who was on HSN at the time.  I haven't used it in years.  It's a nice machine but it's pushed against a wall in a third bedroom between or behind some other equipment, one of which is the treadmill.  Then there's that chair that Susan Lucia sells.  The first one.  Downstairs or somewhere, we have a total gym, too.  Others things, I can't even remember the name of.  I just don't have the discipline to exercise on a regular basis at home.  Also, I've come to realize that I'm not crazy about machines.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good morning everyone.  Well, Summer is supposed to be back today.  Indian summer, maybe?

Wow, I had no idea how many jeans I have until I started looking for some non-jean type pants to wear today for my first day of volunteering that were just plain pants.  Not jeans but also not dressy.  Finally found one pair.  I wanted to wear pants because I’m wearing sneakers which is allowable.  (I have noticed that most hospital staff wear sneakers or sneaker-like footwear).  I can’t wear sandals or clogs which is what I’d wear with a dress or skirt.  Once it gets cold, I will wear boots wearing a dress or slacks.  I hadn’t realized how restrictive dress codes can be.

This morning I’ll do some in place walking and some stairs for 30 or 45 minutes.  I hope everyone has a great day!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Hello, this morning was so dark and dreay and rainy, supposed to get 50 mph winds today and no doubt I'll lose power again.

I got in a Total gym workout for 50 minutes and 2 trail walks with the dog.  It's mild today, I can't tell you how much I love not bundling up, tomorrow not so much, high of 48.  Today its over 60.

Made some steel cut oatmeal for breakfast with cinnamon and it was really good.    Oatmeal doesn't stay with me though

foxxie hope your 1st day goes well for you.   Let us know.  I think you will like this volunteer position, you will be good at it!

Ohhh here comes the wind, I better go close my garage.

Take care everyone!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

GM everybody.  Boy was it windy and muggy here yesterday!  Today, the temp is supposed to be much lower, like around 70.

Well my volunteering went well but boring as h***, lol.  I’m in the birthing center which is new and hardly any patients  yet.  I have the important job of answering an internal phone, answering buzz from the few patients there that require a nurse and buzzing in visitors!  Problem is that due to lack of patients, there is a LOT of down time.  For four hours.  I’m sure business will pick up and I will be busy.  But next week I am bringing my iPad or a word puzzle.  I probably looked stupid but I did a lot of walking around the desk with arm movements.  One nurse laughed and said that was a good way to get exercise in, lol.  I had almost 22,000 steps at the end of the day.

One of the other volunteers later told me that she had that desk last week and she couldn’t take it and requested a change.  Now she’s filing.....for four hours.  She took a break in between, lol, had to.  Be careful what you ask for.

Today is my my early morning Zumba day!  And I’m going to do some walking afterwards.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Went to Power this morning.

Adonis is still MIA and the instructor actually put out an APB on him.  I guess the mirrors put in an abandonment complaint.  I'm quite enjoying not hearing his weights get thrown all over the room to prove what a heman he is.  Much more quiet and peaceful.

Of course, one leaves and another starts up.  We have a hypochondriac who has found doctors that do nothing but carve her up for the most inane reasons I have ever heard of.

The past few months she was limping around in a sock but doing Power with the full on weights with a toe that got infected and was most likely going to be amputated.  The pic line she had put in for the intravenous antibiotics was not working.

Am I nuts or do you guys have people in your life with this exact problem?  I can not tell you how many people I know who have had this exact issue.

She gets better.

Now the tendons in her hand especially the one by her thumb are not sliding right so she is having surgery this afternoon to fix that.  This is not an old woman.  I would guess she is 40-50 age range.  She has a teenage son who a few years ago she was in counseling with CPS over all the time.

I have never known a person to have so many personal issues in my life.  If I knew CPS on a first name basis and had a toe set up for amputation along with a thumb getting ready to go on the chopping block, I might see one more doctor that does therapy.  The mental kind.  I really think she wouldn't know how to live a life without a dramatic crisis in it.

Anyway, I kept all of my increased weight except for the last shoulder track.  I am very proud I increased my normal and stuck with it all week.

Almost the weekend which is a good thing because I desperately need one.  Have a good day all.

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

Good morning, all!

@Laura14, it sounds like that woman has Munchausen's (sp?) or something like that.   And yes, I've known people like that.  They are exhausting.  I have a friend who has been in an abusive marriage for 30 years or longer.  Even her kids want her to divorce their dad.  Every so often, I'll get a phone call that she's in a shelter and she's ready to come back to Colorado and she'll be there on such and such a date.  And then she goes radio silent.  In the mean time, there's a group of us who have been friends since junior high (actually, this girl and I have been friends since first grade) and we're making preparations, decided who she is going to stay with etc and then we don't hear from her.  The last time this happened, I finally got in touch with her and of course, it has been put on hold.  I get it about domestic violence--it took me years to leave my abuser (we were together 4 years), but enough is enough.

Because this is so emotionally draining on me, I have decided that I can support her, but until she's standing on my doorstep, I can't continue to be dragged into the drama.

Today is Zumba and I am teaching.  I have kind of a fun play list which includes Monster Mash and I put a Spell on You (Viennese waltz!).  There is one song that I keep making mistakes on, but hopefully I get that ironed out by the end of the month.  When it's time to change playlists again. . .

Hope you all have had a great week!

Re: Welcome to the October Exercise Thread

@Laura14 Oh lawdy!  I agree with dr.k.......with an additional personality disorder like histrionic with a side of hypochondriasis!  My BIL's wife is a trip like that.....she's not allowed in my home.
