Anyone here wear them? I thought they were bad for your legs.

You can google for additional information, but I believe that...in most cases...compression socks are good for your legs, not bad.  What makes you feel that they are bad for your legs?

I've been wearing Tommy Copper stockings and socks for over a year and they' re the best compression socks for the price. They are fairly easy to get on yet are tight enough to do you some good, but not cut off your circulation. When I was hospitalized and they put their compression stockings on me, I could hardly stand to keep them on. I threw them in the waste basket at the hospital the day I was discharged.

I had heard that they were bad for circulation.

A friend has to wear compression stockings when traveling long flights...keeps feet and legs from swelling due to leaky valves in legs.

@Group 5 minus 1 the timing of your post....I just had a conversation with a friend who is having issues with her legs (mostly pain and aches) and suggested she purchase a pair of compression socks/stockings because they worked for me.  I suggested getting a pair that was not too firm and just try the socks and all she wanted to do was argue that the socks would not work...I finally asked her how do you know if you have not tried them?

The socks are bad for people who have certain medical conditions and severe vascular disease is one of them. I suggested she see her primary care physician to get the okay to make her feel better. My first pair of compression socks were measured and ordered by my physician. Since I don't have vascular disease I found it cheaper to just buy future socks myself vs the insurance paying for it.

Most people I know who wear them do so at the suggestion of a vascular specialist. . . I guess check with your physician is the operative word here!

If they are too tight or too small they are bad for your legs.  I had some swelling after my knee replacement surgery last winter and I wore them for a couple of months.  I wore the real medical grade ones not the ones QVC sells.

If my doctor suggested I needed to wear compression socks, I would be asking why. There is a reason, overweight, lack of exercise, etc.

I have been wearing them for 5 years...ever since my double knee replacement.  I wear them every day...take them off at night.  I have vein issues so for me they are a good thing. I wear light compression knee highs.
