@mousiegirl Osteopenia is a thinning of the bone. I also take Glucosamine for about 20 years now, and it does help with the soft tissue in my knees, but it's not meant to strengthen the bones. These are two separate issues.

@KatieB Among other issues, too much calcium can show the kidneys are dumping it into the urine, not good, this is shown through a 24-hour urine collection, and may have an effect in bone density. I knew my bones were fine as I am so active, climbing stairs, etc., that I am building bone all the time. Because a bone density scan is an x-ray, I opted for my blood to be retested, and then I will go back in six months just to be sure the calcium level is still normal.
The calcium level shows up in a blood panel, I always have one every year to make sure all is well.

@2blonde I was thinking about the cartilage glucosame/chondroitin builds.

Dietary calcium (plant sources) will not calcify the arterial system.
Where it does...is if you consume animal products, like dairy, which
are high in calcium....but it’s the fat which will clog the arteries,
not the mineral calcium.

Sorry to hear this. What natural methods has your Cardiologist/Neurosurgeon told you to try to lower your lipid Total number and it's ratio's? I assume you are taking a Statin, no? None of my business, I do understand.

Remember the magic formula for taking calcium is to also take it with D3, magnesium and K2. The K2 is very important. Keeps calcium away from the heart. I have been taking calcium for the last 15 years and have no clue as to what my levels are, never heard of such a thing being tested.

Just Reason #83626209 why supplements should not be taken
when plant-based calcium can be consumed. A calcium supplement
floods the system unnaturally and the body has to adjust,
never in a good way.

@Shelbelle The only reason I've heard of it being tested is for a thyroid problem such as an overactive thyroid.
