Here in the snobby big city the bag people carry Coach, D & B, Kate Spade and LV. Coach and Longchamp are the overwhelming choice for students here.

Yeah right! we all know that college students have the $$$ to spend on Coach and other overpriced purses. Esp. those who are having to foot the bill to live in "big cities".

Those same college 'kids' have parents and get gifts for their birthdays and Christmas... There are plenty of twenty somethings walking around with pricey bags, whether they find the money to buy them or get them as gifts, there are surely a contingent that seem to have them. Thinking back to the summer 'help' several of the girls carried a 'name' handbag, like Coach, Kate Spade or Dooney and had a Vera tote for their gym bag.

In my pantry with my cupcakes...

I would consider Dooneys to be classic, not dated. There's a huge difference between the two. I've always loved the Dooney style even before QVC started selling them and I'm far from old.

I think any age could carry them, but I just find them too heavy before I even put my stuff in them and I don't carry much.

Which would greatly relate to why they don't have money in the first place - it's a vicious cycle.

Interesting. I took two of mine to the consignment shop in Northern Va that I bring all my things to and the owner was thrilled. She has customers who want to be called when she gets D&B's in. I sold them both and got decent money for them. Maybe it's a regional thing?
