I am branded a "newbie" and I feel it is unfair...I've been watching this channel since I have been a teen but I've never posted on here. Yes, I have read these posts for years but I didn't post on here. I totally respect my elders and I don't want to fight with them so I didn't post on here{#emotions_dlg.laugh}. I just started to post on here and I do hope that being a "newbie" isn't constantly thrown in my face.

We all have our opinions and we won't agree with everything that is being said...I like that we have differences. Otherwise, the world would be absolutely so boring. If you disagree then you voice it but do it nicely.

I've never understood the "jumping on a newbie" mentality. It's often written with much indignation, "And this is her FIRST post!" or "You signed up just to post THAT?!", which apparently means he/she cannot be trusted.

Personally, I never look to see how many times people have posted. It's completely irrelevant to me. Every single old-timer here had a first post. We all, each & every one of us, started out with "1 Post" underneath our name.

Newbies should be made to feel welcome, not treated as though they have ulterior motives. We're here to express opinions & exchange ideas, and new points of view are a good thing!

I totally agree with everything that you had wrote. I only wish that majority of the "veterans" were as open-minded as you.

In my neighborhood these women would be called "the town gossips". They rarely say anything good about any one. For many it's a life long habit and their favorite line....."well, I don't mean to be saying anything bad about this person...BUT....... You cannot have a decent adult conversation with them. All they want to do is talk about other people. If they can't do that....they have nothing to talk about. Seems to me they should put that energy into something else.

"Jane looks fat in that dress and she is ugly". Although a poster here didn't like this statement....she had no issues with it.{#emotions_dlg.ohmy} Oh, my goodness! If you can't see the difference between opinion and bashing in that statement something is sadly wrong with your thinking.

I NEVER object to an OPINION being expressed, but it baffles me that some otherwise highly intelligent posters appear to be unable to discern the difference between a strongly expressed OPINION and a diatribe that appears to be written to criticize the choices of others. Simply put, what one poster thinks is "hideous" (the most overused word in the Dictionary of Overt Hostility) is, to another poster, the perfect choice. Opinions CAN be stated without subjective and undefinable language.

Re: When are poster's on ALL the forums...

I cannot speak for anyone else, but myself here. First off, there is a difference between bashing and criticizing. Bashing, to me, is when you get personal in your critique. Criticizing, is when you speak to the host's (or vendor's) manner in presenting the item for sale. For example, Shawn has been known to "mangle" the English language, Jane has been known to tell many stories about her family, while presenting an item - to the detriment about finding out the particulars about the item. Stating that you find this annoying, is not bashing.

In a brick and mortar store you have the ability to go from one sales associate to another if the first associate was not able to help you because of the reasons mentioned above. On QVC you do not - although you can go to the website. I will also tell you, that if I went into a store such as Williams and Sonoma and saw a grown man doing a "happy dance" (his words, not mine) I would probably walk away.

Finally, I do what many others have suggested here - I change to channel - to the point that I do not shop at QVC anymore. I come here, find out what is popular, and try to buy it at another vendor. (QVC's high shipping has also factored into this decision). QVC lost me when it no longer was about the product but about the personality of the host.

Why first posters,or low post posters treated suspiciously here is beyond me too. Everyone had first post. I actually went back and read mine. I was a lurker for a very long time. I think that the "mean girl mentality" term is used often by WOMEN who don't want any dissenting opinions or criticism about a host or product they love. They call throw out words like troll, haters, jealous and say "get life","change channels",etc. That is a perfect to "pot to kettle" thing. If new posters are treated so rudely, that seems troll-ish.

First posters are looked at suspiciously when their very first post is a rant against a specific vendor, host or starting a topic known to be controversial, especially when the post reintroduces a thread that was just poofed because of controversy and hostility.
