Oh boy. And again with the getting a life mantra...
I usually like your posts and agree with you but QVC is a shopping network. The emphasis should be on the product and not the host or even the vendor. If one watches a person for hours at a time, it is inevitable that they will get on your nerves sooner or later.

You could argue that as long as a host is selling a high $$ volume of products then obviously everything is OK. However, we all know, that a lot of products would sell no matter who the host is. If a particular host's on air behavior turns away customers, QVC needs to know that so they can properly evaluate that employee. For that reason, I have no problem posting my opinions about a particular host's on air behavior.
I do agree though that some of the posts here go beyond true issues. There is a significant difference between criticizing David for the amount of vacation time he takes (yes there have been a few posts about that) versus his on air behavior that some may believe is juvenile & causes them to switch the channel.
It is also interesting to me that the people who say that if we don't have anything good to say then we should stay quiet are the ones who are, in fact, criticizing those of us who just want a chance to express our opinion. You are certainly entitled to your opinion as are we all.
There is a very vocal *small* group of people, many times the same posters, who comment negatively on hosts, particularly David. The people who post on this forum, to say what they like or do not like about anything, from hosts to merchandise to set decoration, are microns in a bucket of QVC customers. Seriously, they do not matter to QVC. Why on earth would they care that 10-20 people do not like a particular host's behavior, over and over again? People are really fooling themselves if they believe their opinion (of a host or anything else) matters to QVC. If something changes, it is because there is a serious drop in revenue for an item or a host, not because 20 people keep saying so-and-so hosting keeps them from buying.

I agree, the whole host-centric thing has gone too far... I suspect it's because of the narrow branding that's led to so much repetition of merchandise, so management wants us to focus on the hosts we supposedly like... The price to be paid, if customers watch too much, is they get tired of both the merchandise AND the hosts! And yes, familiarity breeds contempt... My own solution is to watch almost no QVC these days...

And you my dear, are a prime example of what I am talking about! Why the need to say hurtful things? Are you so perfect that you can sit in judgment of others? Very sad!
You are doing that, why can't others? Why do you start things like this to stir the pot? Aren't you sitting judgment of others? It amazes me how people so often don't see the irony of posts like this.

Some people are like the buttons on an elevator.....they'll either take you up or they'll take you down.

I guess you are another basher...right??? Thought so! You were bashing David on the other thread. Saying how you were so embarrassed watching him in front of your husband. If you don't like David or you feel embarrassed to watch him in front of your husband (which seems a little odd) don't watch him. That does not excuse you for bashing him. Some people love to watch him and some don't. Change the channel.

I agree with all of this.
I work in television, and I'm well aware of how TV networks use social media to get information. Yes, sales figures do show which hosts are selling more than others. But sales figures don't tell WHY. There is no doubt that QVC reads these forums to get feedback about who we like, who we don't, what makes us dislike some and like others, why a previously beloved host is suddenly not getting the numbers they used to, etc.
A big reason for QVC providing these forums is so they can know what we're all thinking. Their guidelines are very specific, and nothing is mentioned about having to post only positive things about the hosts & vendors. If they didn't want ALL opinions, they would poof the negative ones, but they don't. And there's a reason for that - They want to know how we really feel and so they have provided an outlet for us to easily let them know. It's just another form of market research, and TV relies heavily on market research. Believe me, "I love all the hosts and QVC is perfect" is not at all what QVC wants to read because it's not helpful.
Yes, of course there's a big difference between bashing & simply disliking, but many posters here view every negative comment as bashing & "hating". We're allowed to have opinions, and although I don't particularly like comments such as, "Jane looks fat in that dress and she's ugly", I have no issue with, "Jacque talks over the vendor all the time". That's an honest opinion, not bashing, and could potentially be of value to QVC.
Instead of jumping all over people for saying what they think, wouldn't it be better to view these forums as an opportunity to help QVC become better than it is?

Hello, RJL-DLL 75.
To be honest, it's not just the hosts on QVC. Others posters get treated rather harshly, too. If someone even slightly, gently, politely says even the tiniest criticism of a product or vendor, even if it's not mean, then there are times that the people who really like that product and/or vendor will get really up in arms and starting verbally attacking that poster.
And lately, new posters that join the QVC board are treated pretty harshly, too. They get accused of being someone else or a troll. Now I'll be honest, I do get annoyed when I'm trying to listen to a vendor or product description and the hosts starts talking about everything but the product. Yes, I could look it up online. But that defeats the point of watching QVC on TV.
All this seems to happen almost all over the board. Not sure what to do about. :

I am branded a "newbie" and I feel it is unfair...I've been watching this channel since I have been a teen but I've never posted on here. Yes, I have read these posts for years but I didn't post on here. I totally respect my elders and I don't want to fight with them so I didn't post on here
. I just started to post on here and I do hope that being a "newbie" isn't constantly thrown in my face.
We all have our opinions and we won't agree with everything that is being said...I like that we have differences. Otherwise, the world would be absolutely so boring. If you disagree then you voice it but do it nicely.
