When the demand for copper declines enough, the mine may reopen. I bought two as-is turquoise items today. A pair of earrings I am hoping will coordinate with the lighter blue SB turquoise necklace I bought in Globe at the mine store several years ago. Not all SB is the same color. I also bought a large pendant I had been eyeing before it sold out. Hoping both are good quality. I love real turquoise, specifically American-mined. My favorite SB earrings are set in gold and I bought them directly from the goldsmith.

I don't care if they show jewelry made from dog doo, it is still better than the boring shows from the holidays.

LOL - so true!

I ADORE turquoise and wear it year round. However, although the Sleeping Beauty is beautiful, sometimes it looks like plastic to me when there is absolutely no matrix. Having picked up several amazing turquoise pieces in Mexico, I have grown to appreciate the interest that matrix adds.

I am in complete agreement with everything you said.

I agree. Matrix makes your stone "unique".

Too much turquoise? No way! I love Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. Levian sells the more expensive Persian Turquoise that I also love, but this is a nice alternative.

I am at a loss to understand how a ""closed"" mine can produce so much rough. Somewhere there must be an overflowing warehouse full of it. Destined for a shopping channel that is also full...

So much sleeping beauty.......I thought is was supposed to be limited in the rough!!!! Maybe I'm crazy, but, I do like some with the matrix. Those stones are unique. I looked online during the day and found prices in general too high.

I thought I was the only person who thinks the turq without matrix looks like plastic. I, too, much prefer the more rugged, nugget-y look of the turq with matrix!

Agree with you both! I do like turquoise especially w the matrix, and I have several pieces. But not liking what's offered today!

Agree with all of you. My pieces came from New Mexico and they are beautiful and unique. The sleeping beauty stuff looks fake to me. Also I get so tired of hearing how everything is so hard to get and this or that designer bought up the last of the best from the most wonderful mine.
