I got a little bit of a headstart yesterday. I had no intention of changing things this early but I bought a new throw for the sofa yesterday at Pier 1, it's the Farmhouse Plaid throw and that started the urge to pull out some fall things. The colors look so nice on my green sofa that it just made me want more things out to co-ordinate with it. My room is rusts, greens and golds with a very few tiny splashes of red splashed around the room in small items that I'm not willing to give up. Red is my favorite color and I have something red in every room in the house.

When it starts to actually look a little like Fall "outside" is when I'll decorate the inside. It is still soooo hot/humid in SC, and the leaves are so thick & green (we live in the country and are surrounded by trees), that fall decorations just look ridiculous to me.
The 1st weekend in October sounds about right to me.

It's still 100+ here and I'm looking at palm trees but I can't wait to get out the fall stuff, this weekend out comes the pumpkins and gourds. And the fall wreath on the front door.

No decorating around here. I'll be spending my time outdoors most of the weekend. The annual hot air balloon fest is this weekend and I hope to spend a lot time there. Then will be heading up to the mountains for a some late summer hiking. The weather will be perfect and I don't want to miss the opportunity.

I'm starting today (Friday) because I have the house to myself for the day. Once I opened the carton of fall decorations, I just had to start decorating.

@phoenixbrd wrote:No....I am not. I don't want the clutter of boxes full of seasonal decorations. I haven't gotten to the attic yet, but there must be at least two dozen covered tubs of Christmas, Easter, Fall, etc. that will be donated. My priorities have changed. Enjoy your decorating and I'll bet your homes are/will be beautiful!

Sounds like you are going cold turkey @phoenixbrd.

Just sat down to cool off from doing the fall decorting. What a job but so nice when it is done.

No. I'll wait until the end of September and early October.

I don't decorate for different seasons or holidays, with the exception of Christmas, and even that has gotten to be a bit sparse!

We have had a great summer. Hot for sure but not much rain and we aren't through with the 90's yet. Summer is still here. I won't put up my Fall decorations this week end but I have taken some things out and I bought new placemats and new bright orange covers for my throw pillows. I'm expecting some Fall things from QVC next week. Will hit the Dollar Store tomorrow.
