Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Added to the donation pile a set of king size 100% cotton sheets, practically new, washed them a few times, wrinkled mess and stiff, too.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I have a bag of clothing ready to go, a birdcage I never decorated with and I really, really need to go through Christmas decor. Never put up tree the last two years. Just used tabletop stuff.  Downsizing still.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I am having a yard sale later this summer. I have alot of brand new things

that I am not going to donate especially from my kids. I have several brand

name pairs of sneakers, bags of lightly worn school clothes, household,

bikes, holiday and more from my Mom as well.

I definitely have the time to do this as I have several times in the past.

I want to make a few bucks for my kids as my teenage son said he will

help me with the work.

I have donated very much to Goodwill in the past and am happy to do

it but the amount of things I have collected in the past few months is

enough to make some money. I know people don't want to give much

at yard sales but a few bucks for some items is still better than nothing.

Whatever does not go will then eventually be hauled to Goodwill a little

bit at a time.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

[ Edited ]

My local thrift store just reopened for donations/shopping, so I'm gathering things to take.

Lots of glass jars (Mason), with plastic lids, and a variety of kitchen things that have gone unused for years.  I have a set of "corn" holders that are lovely, but haven't used them in ages.  They are poised for departure.

And, a box of table linens and placemats that haven't been out of the drawer in years.  I've given up on cloth placemats as they all get ratty looking after a few washings.

How many tablecloths does one need?  I still have too many, all bought when I entertained a lot. Many of them are April Cornel linens and glorius, but I just don't use them.

Honestly, it feels like I cannot get to the bottom of my stuff.  How much longer, how many more boxes before I can say, "I'm done."

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@Snicks1

Months ago, when I still had my cleaning ladies coming, I gave away all my cotton sheets to them.  I warned that they wrinkled, but they didn't mind.  Said, what they didn't use, they could give to others.

I'm wondering now what possessed me to buy sheets that turned into big balls of wrinkles!

I now only have sets of white sheets that do not wrinkle, even though they are all cotton.

I'm not buying any more until these fall apart!

It's a rainy day in TX. (Now I've got "Rainy Night in Georgia" stuck in my head). Good day to go through some more paper clutter. I just found notes from a Suze Orman course that I took in 1999

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I'm still in my "get this stuff out of this house" mood and am revitalized in my outgoing efforts.

I have 2 large shopping bags totally filled with "treasures" ready to go to Goodwill tomorrow. Staying at home for 3 months really gives you an opportunity to see what you really use and what you don't. Get these things out of my sight. I go through my kitchen religiously but every time I do I find more things to get rid of.

I have some things for consignment but I don't feel comfortable going in there yet. Rising virus cases here.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh

I wish I had a nice consignment shop, but nothing in my area.

Nevertheless, the stuff has got to go!

Delivering 4 boxes of household things to a local thrift shop tomorrow.

They have limited hours for donations, and it dop off at the back door.

I'm just happy to have something going out after several months!

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I used up a large word search book and tossed it.

Tossed a lip balm that had gone bad and a lipstick that I don't use. Also tossed another lip treatment that had just a scrap left in the bottom of it.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

My local thrift store will resume accepting donations on Wednesday, July 1, so next week when I stop there I will have a small bag or box of misc. items which I have been collecting in the garage over these past months.

Into the donate box today: two small cooking utensils which I replaced with new and a brand new silk throw pillow, still in the Pier 1 bag. A bad purchase just because it was at a great clearance price. Problem is, I have no use for another pillow, especially in a washed-out green color. Oh well....live & learn.
