Thank you, Owl and 1jac. I remember well the time of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs, too. For some reason, the adventurous spirit of astronauts intrigues me. Some of you will recall that astronauts back in the '60s and at the beginning of the '70s were the rock stars of their day. At this time in his life, Captain Cernan is trying to "re-inspire" American youth to dare to dream big. He is an inspiration, I must say.

Here's a really nice interview with Captain Gene Cernan that was conducted at the South by Southwest Film Festival yesterday.
To those who might be upset by my hijacking this thread, I apologize. This will be my last entry on this topic.
I do believe, however, that we need to honor those who have sacrificed for our nation. If it happened on this thread, well, it happened that way.
Captain Cernan's enthusiasm and desire to spark the imagination of America's youth are admirable and heart-warming. He is a true hero.
