Some posters have said they own more than one tablet (for their own use, not the total number owned by their family members). I am a novice to the tablet world, and am wondering - what are the reasons some of you own multiple tablets? Is it that they have different capabilities, or do you have one for work and one for pleasure, or a cheap one you bought as a starter before moving on to something else, etc.? Or are you like me, and just can't decide which is best?
Thank you in advance for your comments.

I have two tablets....plus my computer...I only play solitaire on my tablets...and check my e-mails...but I like knowing one or the other is completely charged when I want to use them...or if I am going someplace where I may have to sit and wait for an appointment...I know I can grab either of them and they are ready to go....
Also...my three grands come over often....one or the other is usually grabbing one of the tablets or both...
I have a Nook and a Samsung Tab 2....

I don't have a tablet (yet - one is in the mail now), but I have more than one Kindle and two iPhones. I get new electronics for new features, not because the old one no longer works. I give some old ones away, but others I keep because it's useful to have more than one. Once an iPhone is deactivated as a phone, it can be used as an iPod touch. Apps still work if you have Wi-Fi. And if anything happens to my current iPhone, I can reactivate my old phone and not have to rush out to spend $400 on a new phone that's going to be outdated in a few months.
Tablets aren't like TVs - they don't take up a lot of room or have a special place where everyone gathers around them. When you upgrade, you don't need to put the new tablet in space the old TV is in, so you don't need to get rid of the old one. Give it to the kids, use it as a backup, turn one into a dedicated TV remote or companion device for all those TV apps and keep the other for everything else.

I have a dumb question about tablets. Do you have to get some kind of contract and pay to use them like a phone? If you have Wi-Fi at home or in public, is that all you need to go online on them? I'm confused as to how they work.
I'm a novice on all this, so pardon the "dumb" questions.

They come either WiFi capable or WiFi and 4G capable. The combo ones are more expensive by $100 or so. If you have the WiFi only one, yes, you can only be online somewhere there is a WiFi signal. If you buy the WiFi and 4G combo you can either just use it as WiFi only or pay a monthly service fee like the phone and are able to use it anywhere, just like the phone.
I'm only familiar with Apple products so this applies to them, I'm not familiar with Samsung, etc. My dad has a Nook tablet and it's WiFi only not even sure it comes with 4G capability.

I'm on my 2nd iPad and 2nd iPhone. I've always sold mine back to use towards the new product. Never gave it too much thought to keeping it to use as an iPod. With all the emails and other things, I had to remove all my music on my phone. My first one was 32g and I didn't think I needed it again so i got the 16g and really wish I had the 32g again. The opposite with my iPad, the first one was 16g WiFi only and I either rent movies or put my TiVo shows on my iPad and would constantly have to delete things to be able to do this. The 2nd one I got 4g and 32g and much happier!
I too have thought about getting a 2nd tablet but couldn't justify the why? part. I would be interested in a mini but never pulled the trigger.

LOL!!! Me too! I have 2 IPod nanos (one holds classical music and party music and the other a variety of my favorites--and it is a long story why I have 2) and three shuffles, an IPod 3 4g and a Mac Air. I have uses for them all. The shuffles hold books I listen to when I walk, the nanos books and music and such and they are radios and pedometers. Oh and I read from a Kindle Paperwhite--the newest one which is WONDERFUL! The battery lasts a long long time!
My iPad for mail, solitaire and magazine and cookbook reading; Kindle HDX Fire for books to read and listen to.

It's a use it when you need it thing. No contract with a monthly cost.On 7/31/2014 kkris812 said:On 7/31/2014 MJ FAN 4 EVER said:I have a dumb question about tablets.
