PJs or not, I would stand at the door and get her attention and ask why she was putting trash in my can.  Is there some reason the neighbor can't use her own trash can?

@jellyBEAN I would have confronted her, PJ's or not! There's NO excuse for this. I would tell her in no uncertain terms that I won't tolerate this and WILL file a complaint with the HOA if it happens again and I will be watching.

I would NOT tell her that had she asked you might have allowed it. She's already crossed a line.

Just my opinion. I can't abide people who do this kind of c r a p.

I don't have one, but the lady who lives directly across from me does (she is good friends with the trashy neighbor).  Good suggestion to take a photo on my phone, of course I didn't have it on me at the time, but I could have ran and got it when I saw her on her way over.  Jeeeez, first thing Monday morning, just wasn't expecting or in the mood for this.

I did write the HOA about it, "for the record" and told them her name and street number.  There is no reason for me to lie about something like this, but he said/she said, in this day and age you need proof!!

My subdivision does not have an HOA...so if this happened to me, I'd have to make contact with the neighbor. 

I would be furious and would have at least pounded on the window so the neighbor knew that I saw her.  

We had a neighbor that let her dogs pee on the flowers around my mailbox...I just pounded on my window, she saw me and now she walks her dogs on the other side of the street....

I have neighbors who are anything but "nice neighbors". 1 pays no attention to numerous Rescue Squads at our home over the years. No interest at all in our health issues.

The other! Called the Sheriff on 2 different occasions. Both required me in a Court Room several times, neither time did it have anything to do with those that live there. Both times a visitor had a problem with things that were " NONE OF HER BUSINESS".

Were I to see either one put garbage or trash in our 55 gallon bin? If there was room, I wouldn't give it a thought. My trash gets picked up regardless of how much is in it.

Guess I have better things to do than get into it with them for a reason that does not directly effect me.

It's a courtesy where I live to "wave" at everyone, and I have done this many times.  I've ridden right by her on my bicycle and waved and she looks in the other direction or down at the ground.  If I see her outside in her yard she ignores me and looks at anything but me.  If I say Hello she doesn't say a word, so I had given up on her and am OK with that.   I just don't want her leaky garbage bags dumped into mine so I can have the pleasure of washing it out after pickup!!

now i know why she didn't put her trash in HER receptacle....it was leaking....and she didn't want to have to clean it up!!!  time to get BOLD......

Where we live, dogs must be on a leash, there is a new neighbor who moved in across the street that allows their dogs to roam free in the neighborhood, caught one of their dogs doing their business in our driveway, my hubby had previously informed HOA of this, but to no avail......I picked up the dog poop with a towel and threw it across in their driveway, the dogs are now on a leash.

@Kachina624....REALLY!?  and what her neighbor did was okay?  Sometimes if people are not bold enough to confront people, this might be a better solution for them!
