Do you have to wear those glasses if it's a partial eclipse in some areas?
It's not the eclipse that will damage anyone's eyes. It's looking directly at the sun to see the eclipse. You can't look directly at the sun without damaging your eyes unless you have solar glasses.

@missy1- I'm 99.99% sure the answer is yes to your question. If there's even just a partial eclipse and you look at the sun, you need to wear the glasses.

Absolutely. Looking at a partial eclipse is even more dangerous than looking at a total eclipse, because in a partial eclipse, more of the sun is visible.

I am so excited!! I live downtown Kansas City that is on the edge of the path of totality! I am only 30 minutes away from St Joseph, MO which is one of the top 5 cities for viewing. I need to find me some glasses for this. I am also off work mondays. Yuppie!

I am in the 99.5% pathway. I have ISO-approved glasses for the whole family. We are in the west, so will experience it in the morning. So excited!!! The graphics are wonderful. Thanks @feline groovy and others who were kind to post.

We are getting a total eclipse here. People are renting out houses, cabins, rooms, even YARDS!
Pets are not supposed to look at the eclipse.
I'm not going to watch it, even with NASA-approved glasses, since no one does their job anymore. I don't trust that the glasses would be safe.
Better safe than sorry, I'll watch it streaming on youtube or wherever!

A pet does not know an event is going an and he is not going to look into the sun LOL

I think I'll make one of those little boxes you can use to watch an eclipse.

SunValley, I hope you are planning on moving into the path of totality. Even 99.5% just doesn't cut it like 100%.
