@millieshops wrote:@Kachina624 Thanks for the Hormel Compleats idea. I had no idea they exist. One of the businesses around here must have them. I know they carry lots of individual meal kits that have to be refrigerated, but they also have plenty of Hormel products I've rarely paid much attention to.
@millieshops I get them at Walmart. Sometimes I order enough, along with my favorite Campbell's Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder, to make a $35 minimum and have it delivered free.

@Kachina624watch your sodium, ok? Last thing you want is HBP.

a dollar up or down... makes no difference to me. I do not rely on SS for my existence. For those that do rely on it, I hope it is a positive thing for you this year

@deeva I'm sure they have sodium, although I don't detect much fat. I eat them quite often. My BP was 120/70 at the doctor early this month so I'm not concerned.
I only like the chicken alfredo, although I've tried them all.

@phoenixbrd @shoekitty @catter70 Medicare Part B may not increase due to lower than expected costs (more than half lower) for the Alzheimers drug they came out with last year.
@CelticCrafter This is true-the 14.5% increase in Medicare Part B was from the over-estimated cost of the Adulhem treatment for Alzheimer's.
Even though the cost of Adulhem was significantly reduced in the summer, it would have be a logistical pain to reduce the Medicare Part B and give some back to recipients.
So the reduction is SUPPOSED to be given back in 2023 in Medicare B premium but who knows.
The jump for 2022 cost hardship for many recipients; it will be interesting to see how much, if any, the Medicare B premium ever drops in 2023.
For many reasons. I'll stop there.

45mg of cholesterol
990 grams of sodium (way too much for one meal)
31 grams of carbs
One can easily do this if they watch the rest of their sodium intake for the rest of the day. The new standards according to the American Heart Association is 1500 mg of sodium per day. Some people eat sodium w/o thinking how bad it can be if they can't taste it.
Two slices of bread w/o anything else has about 360-400 mgs of sodium. Do the math. Because I ate so much sodium w/o care for so long, I have hbp. I wish I didn't have to count the mgs of sodium in everything I eat, but I do.
Enjoy!

I discovered a few decades ago, that receiving my money, from what was taken out of my pay checks, over my many years of working! It falls under the Federal Government's Classification of Entitlements. Huh?
The same category as:
Medicaid/Medicare/Unemployment, and yes, Welfare.
So getting my money back, after it being automatically taken out of every paycheck I earned, is now considered as me getting an Entitlement? In who's world does that make sense? Not mine, it was and still is my money, that I worked hard to earn, and it somehow became government property?

I don't like the term entitlement either @hckynutjohn. I am willing to bet that you, and many of us, are getting more money in benefits than we ever put into the system.

I agree. If one lives long enough they probably get more back than they put into SS. Since I have never seen a total of how much of my money they took, I have no idea how that balances out for me.
I started taking mine at 62. My feeling was, and still is the same. Who knows how long they are going to live? The same way I have lived my life: "A bird in the hand is worth 5 in the ****". I did the math before I retired and calculated by getting my SS at 62, the difference between that and 65, at the time I retired? It would take 13 years before I would be losing money by choosing age 62.
So after 75 I started losing money by claiming my SS at age 62. At 62, age 75 seemed like an age I might not make. Now at 83? I would make the same decision using the "bird in the hand".
Same theory I used with my retiring company benefit $$$$. I cashed in on every single one I had at that time. Some that retired at the same time kept their 401 etc. and after several years of making money on the company changed name of Lucent? The bottom fell out and many lost 6 figures when their investments were worth $0.50 per share.
My money was not lost, so that worked out well for me. Rolling the dice with my $$ has never been in my DNA. I make money and use it wisely. Never got or will get rich, but will never lose money by hoping to make more.
