Hey Squirrel - nice seein' ya! 

I like Ritz crackers but haven't had them for some time.   I guess it wouldn't be surprising, as it happens with a variety of proucts more and more.    It's always a huge drag when something you like/love is changed and there is nothing you can do about it.

What usually happens to me is that whatever product I really love ends up obsolete because I guess there aren't enough others who also love them.

A brand new fresh box can be ok but if they are in the cabinet even a few weeks unopened, there is something almost rancid about them. I thought it was me, but I had others mention it, unsolicited by me.

With all the big brother demands on what can and can't be in the foods (what kinds of fats etc can be used), and companies trying to comply or beat deadlines, many of our favorite old products don't taste the same as they are forced to make changes. 

We had a local potato chip company that had to change fats/oils and now a company that has been in business since WW II is making a product than no one cares to buy, as they taste greasy and just like any other brand.

The City of Philadelphia banned transfats in food. So companies had to change their recipes on certain foods. ASAP It was awful. I ate a Chips Ahoy cookie. I think a piece of cardboard would have been tastier. Never tried another one.

Chips Ahoy have always been my favorite packaged chocolate chip cookies because they were so crispy and crunchy. I don't like soft cookies. They were on sale recently so I bought a package, and they were terrible. No crunch, just kind of soggy. Sadly, I ate them and never complained. I'm getting lazy in my old age!

I can't find my favorite Kashi crackers anymore, so I guess I'm kind of in the same boat as all of the Ritz-loving posters.

@tansy- Tate's are very good. TOO GOOD as a matter of fact! They can be found in every store here, as they're made locally. I try not to buy cookies at all, but when I saw that Chips Ahoy were on sale, I had to have them (and besides,we were stocking up for a snowstorm)

@hopi - I agree.  The last few boxes have been so crumbly, you can't spread anything on them. The whole wheat ones were a little better, but not like they used to be.  The new recipe is not good in taste or texture.  I called them also and got coupons.  I used them on Chip Ahoy cookies instead.  I think I'll try Townhouse again.

Why do these companies mess with their recipes that are already successful products?  To save money, I guess.  Digiorno Pizza changed their sauce quite a while back.  I called to complain and they said they had gotten so many complaints about the same thing.  A few months later, they changed back to the original sauce and printed "Original Sauce is Back" on the box.  Maybe Nabisco will listen to their customer complaints and go back to the old recipe.  Let's hope so.

I have noticed that a lot of Nabisco products are now made in Mexico.  The graham crackers taste different to me - which is wht I checked the packages to see what was different.  Anyway, I checked the Ritz and Fig Newton packages before buying and saw that they too are no longer made here.  I don't know if recipes have changed, but, as I said, I was checking the packages to see where to write.  Perhaps ingredients measurements are the same, but  ingredient brands are different.  Don't know, but I don't buy them any more.

I LOVE hard and crunchy cookies!  It is so hard to find them now.  Most cookies are just doughballs!

if you like hard and crunchy and thin cookies i have a recommendation. OTTERBEINS. they are out of the baltimore area. they sell them in our grocery stores, local gift shops, and in sams club. if you can find them in your area i highly recommend them......chocolate chips, sugar, lemon sugar, oatmeal raisin, ginger, and orange white chocolate chip.

they are delicious......if you cannot find them then check out their website. they do ship. have not checked to see if they are on amazon or not.

the company has been in business since 1881.

Yes, what a shame about ritz. I couldn’t even pull a cracker out of the sleeve without it crumbling last time I bought them.  I won’t buy them again. 

I wish they would stop messing with our food.

My husband & I have been married a LONG time. We always have crackers in the house (ritz) finally after all these years he said he never liked ritz crackers. What? why did you wait to tell me now you should have said something years ago. So now we buy club crackers. All these years he could have had club crackers with his soup. I don't understand men and never will.
