Well I generally hate winter. But, I had some new snow boots last winter I never wore, so it'll be nice to use them. Also, I'm planning on getting a new AWD vehicle in the next few months so I'll feel safe driving. Also, I love to slow cook things on a cold snowy day. And watch lots of Netflix. I'll make the best of it. Fortunately I live in a building where the staff clears the snow so it's not my problem! And I have indoor parking so no cleaning the car off.

Living in Seattle West of the Rockies I will be happy for a mild winter.... last year we had record snowfall for here...
I just spent $15,000 plus on a propane run home generator so if we do lose power for a few days or longer we have light, heat and our refrigeration will stay on so no loss of food. It was expensive, but, gives me peace of mind.

With all of the sophisticated technology today, they can't even get the forecast right for the next few days!! We will get whatever Mother Nature sends our way. Hopefully it won't be drastic.

@haddon9 wrote:@lmt Snow is only pretty if you don't have to shovel or drive in it...and then it only lasts a short while until it get filthy & slushy. Cars turn white not from snow but from all of the yucky salt that splashes up all over them, coating most of the cars' surfaces.
@haddon9 OK, I'm going to say something that most people will never understand. I love to shovel snow. I love to clean off snow from my car. I love to drive in snow. There I said it. Ducking for cover, LOL!! ![]()
I do agree with you that once pristine snow turns black in the plowed streets it is an ugly thing to behold. And, yes, there's nothing worse than a car covered in salt.
But I'll never give up my love affair with that beautiful, magical white stuff!! ![]()

But I want white, clean snow. I cannot stand the brown, mucky mess it turns into. And I absolutely detest days and days of no sunshine and just gray skies. After about a week of that, I get very depressed and want to throat punch people.

@Lipstickdiva That is why Hallmark Christmas movies are my happy place come November. Snow is white and fluffy. The cars are pristine clean even when they drive on country roads. Not a bit of filthy slush or salt to be seen.

I really did not like the forecast I read!
I have always found the almanac to be on target with our West Virginia forecasts, due to the fact we are impacted by the systems that sweep up from the south, down from the north, in from the east and west.
Our biggest snowfall came in early December last year; 6-8 inches on the ground when we went to bed Saturday night, and 14 inches before noon on Sunday. That was the day my daughters and I had to get my husband to the ER with a cellulitis infection in his foot. We never saw more than 4” of snow after that, just bitter cold temperatures; our heat pump went out in January during one of those polar blasts!
Because of the way this state is nestled in around states often hardest hit by strong weather systems, our winters start early and drag on until April. 5 months of cold, dark days are very depressing. The warm summer days fade far too fast to suit me.
I’ve already started stocking the house with food and supplies; getting ready to stay inside for extended periods again.

I take these forecasts with a grain of salt. Farmers Almanac has been consistantly off the past few seasons. So have other long range predictions, though, since conditions that factor in the forecast can change in a matter of o time.

Surviving Winters isn't really all that much here in So. CA.
Surviving and being prepared for Earthquakes is more prevalent.
Also, there have been and will be more volcanoes erupting and shooting ash and debris into the atmospheres around the world which cause heavy rainfalls and devastation.
That's a reason I can't buy into climate change where humans are the sole culprits. The Earth and nature does more damage on a global scale more than the humans living here do.

I believe we'll have winter weather just like we do every year.

I (respecfully) disagree, and will leave it at that.
