@qualitygal, I'm not one to keep track, it wouldn't occur to me, ha. Have a sort of romanticist's relationship to books and reading-- have always just waded in, and grabbed volumes according to pure fancy sometimes, and some other times with more purpose.
Libraries have always enchanted me, and am one of those people who, since childhood, have wandered the stacks in kind of a "happy plunder" sort of emotional state. Nowadays, I don't care for most libraries' administration, but still have that primitive, blissful feeling about a building that contains all those books.

I have enjoyed reading since I was a child. Some of my favorite Christmas gifts was the new book in a series I was reading like Trixie Beldon or Nancy Drew. In our high school some students were teacher's helpers and the school librarian picked me as her helper so I was able to spend alot of time in the library, loved that. (I was also the helper for the Guidance Counselor and loved that too.
I read far too many books and spend too much time doing it when I should probably be doing other things like cooking dinner. Ha Ha, that is a joke since I can't really cook and don't want to.
Yesterday I returned 4 finished books to the library and picked up 3 more. I read long into the night and consequently stay up much too late. i still want actual books and have no interest in e books or a kindle. I currently have 9 books on my stack to be read.
I look on Barnes and Noble for new books coming soon and reserve them at the library. Ours is a consortium and can draw from many other libraries in near by cities so I can always get the new books. Our voters voted down an issue to increase library funding so our local library has to limit their purchases, but can always order from other libraries. I served on our library panel discussing issues in establishing guidelines for purchasing.
I have found many new authors from the coming soon seetion at B&N and also from Goodreads. I am not much for re-reading books and accumulating them so seldom purchase as I read so many I would soon be broke. I recently donated just about every book I owned in my attempt at downsizing my house. I have no interest in tracking what I read as I read for pure pleasure.

I read for the pure joy of it and have never tried to keep track of the number of books or even their titles. Over the years I've learned of some authors I really enjoy and make sure to purchase every new book they publish but, other than that, I just read whatever strikes my fancy and then move on to the next. If I'm not enjoying a story, I put it down and start something else. I have hundreds of books, which makes me very happy and I love re-reading them over and over again.

@KathyM23 That is so funny. I was only talking about my Trixie Belden books today with someone else. I still have the whole series on my bookshelf. Must be a sign of something...
I am about ready to renew my KU subscription. I don't track but I do like reading as much as I want for a fee. I'm afraid they lose money on me. LOL

@LindaSal wrote:I read one book at a time. I'm kind of a slow reader so I like to take my time and find it confusing to have more than one book going. DH reads several at time, don't know how he does it. I still like holding my book in my hands, no kindle for me. Guess I am kind of old fashion, still relying on memory to not reread something I've already read.
I have always had several going at a time. Back when I was a stay home mom I always kept one in my car for school pick up and dr. appt.'s ect....... I keep one at my office to read during lunch and then I have a book for my stationary bike riding every morning. That book as to be easy to hold and distract me from the ride itself. Then I have books for just doing nothing but reading at home in my recliner. Like you it always as to be a book no electronics for me. My Mom actually grounded me in the 4th grade from reading "books" since my social studies grade went from a B to C once. That was such a long 9 weeks. She apologized to me decades later for that punishment but my grade went up.

What a fun thread. I am a lifelong heavy book reader. I have a TBR (To be read) list and several other lists that cover series books or authors that I enjoy reading. I cross the book of the lists when completed and decide what I will be reading next.
I do keep track of my books that I read on Goodreads. I Love this site, for reasons that have already been mentioned. I read so many books by so many different authors, that I have to keep track. I also set a goal of books to read, but I always deliberately set it low, so that I am not focused on trying to hit a number, and that I am reading for the pure pleasure of it.
I am a fan of fiction and the occasional memoir.
I read one book at a time, and when I finish one I move on to the next one.
I get 99% of my books from the library. I would have no money if I was to buy all of the books that I enjoy reading. I currently have four books home and they have a pretty easy system of requesting what you want to read online, being notified when the books are available for pickup, and renewals.
I have a Kindle, that I only use for when i travel, to put books on to read.

For the last 8-10 years I've listed titles and their authors (and how many stars I give the book) in a little notebook. That way I don't order a book that I've already read. I ALWAYS HAVE TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF A BOOK! (I was an English teacher. I am in the reading habit, for sure!)

My very best friend who is now an author, worked in our local library, a real copy of a Harvard library at the time it was built. I loved it. It was a charming, beautiful, very British atmosphere place to be. I used to go visit her for lunch and I would spend the rest of the afternoon browsing and reading. Yes, that was a beautiful time in my life. I made the excuse to meet her for lunch so I could spend time in the library. I did love her but I loved the library even more when she was in charge; she would not accuse me of loitering like the elderly lady who "owned" the library (her opinion). Such a wonderful memory. Thanks for talking about "library."

Read one at a time, then go to the next.
I don't read electronically and don't have access to a library.
I keep my wish lists at Better World Books, Thrift Books, and Ebay.
In my home, I organize by regular novels and YA novels.
