Re: Question for the book readers

I use Overdrive for reading.  When I open a book and find that there are bookmarks.........I know I've read it before. Not sure if that will happen when everything changes to Libby.

@CANDLEQUEEN  Thanks for posting this info, I will check it out.

@deepwaterdotter You're welcome. I think you will really like the site. I also like that once you find an author you like, you can search for all of their other books on Goodreads...You can also read tons of reviews on books you might be interested in. Its a great site. Hope you enjoy!

Re: Question for the book readers

I buy my books from Amazon to read on my Kindle.  I haven't bought a paper book in 15 or 20 years.  My book purchases are on Amazon, I order book that I already read, Amazon tells me the date I bought it.   Since I read for pleasure, I'm not in a race to read a particular number of books.  I take them one at a time.  I like to read books that are part of a series.  When I finish a series, I take a little break before I start another one.

I do not read using an electronic device. I buy all my books. I have over $900 credit at a used bookstore nearby. When you buy a book, you get 50% off using your credit. I sold many books recently and got $2 credit for each. I have many books on hand waiting to be read. I also buy new books from Barnes and Noble. I track all my books read and give a one sentence review. I am currently reading four books. I read about a book per month. I plan to read more after the midterms since I will be limiting my consumption of news.

Re: Question for the book readers

I have a list of all the books I have read since high school (50+ years of reading).  I keep it in a ring binder that holds 5.5 X 8.5 inch loose leaf paper.  I have a list for each year and an alphabetical section listing by author.  It is one of my most prized possessions although it means nothing to anyone but me.

I usually only read one book at a time unless one is nonfiction.  Then I can intersperse it with a fiction book.  I don't read much nonfiction.  I love reading on my kindle, but I get new releases from my public library to save money.  My library lets card holders put books on reserve pre-publication, so I am usually one of the first to get them when they arrive.

@qualitygal

To me, reading is like eating chocolate - pure pleasure.  I can never get enough of either, and I don't have any desire to keep track of how much I indulge.  Nowadays my reading is all on my ipad using the Kindle app and I like that it will tell me if I've already ordered a book.  It also tells me how many days in a row and weeks in a row I've read, but since I read every day I don't need the app to tell me lol.

I order ebooks from the library and from Amazon through Bookbub.  It's another free service that you sign up for and indicate your interests.  They send a list of about 5 books a day that are reduced in price starting at $1.99.  And every month I get to choose a free book, sometimes two, from Amazon Prime.

ETA To answer your question, I always read one book at a time.

Re: Question for the book readers

I just read books (sometimes 2 different books at a time). No kindle for me. Just real books. I don't keep track of what I have read, no need to.  Hubby and I just brought down close to 200 hardcover and paperbacks to the library donation bin. We almost filled it up!

Re: Question for the book readers

I read one book at a time.  I'm kind of a slow reader so I like to take my time and find it confusing to have more than one book going.  DH reads several at time, don't know how he does it.  I still like holding my book in my hands, no kindle for me.  Guess I am kind of old fashion, still relying on memory to not reread something I've already read.
