Am I the only one that doesn’t see it?

The yoke is what feeds the embryo.

@fourpaws56 if they are free range I think you just run the risk of this if it is an embryo. I can’t tell for sure from the pic. I would think if it was embryo you woukd see red blood vessels running from the embryo to the yoke. I would just toss it and if you run into another in your five dozen then maybe take them back. BTW do you bake a lot? That is a lot of eggs!!!

I can assure you that is not a fertilized egg, and that is not an embryo. I was raised on a farm and still have chickens to this day. That is what we call a "meat spot". They say it is edible, I personally do not eat eggs with meat spots. It is a malfunction of the hen during egg making, it's essentially tissue and bits of "this and that" from the hens oviduct. We see it pretty regularly on the farm, and because of this I always crack my eggs in a separate bowl.
Grocery store eggs are candled and checked for imperfections, that spot is large enough it should have been caught during that process.

I break out in hives from eggs so I refrain from eating them. That doesn't look like an embryo to me but what do I know...

I don't see the body parts that the rest of you see. JUst looks like a blob to me.

Grocery stores NEVER want you to bring back any questionable food. Why carry around potentially spoiling food and foist it off on someone else?
Take your receipt (if you still have it) to the store manager, explain what you found, or have learned what was wrong with the food..
You will, in my experience, be well taken care of with your complaint.
I had a different type of issue with some Costco eggs........bought a container of 18 eggs, with a label in the middle. When I got them home, opened the plastic carton, found that the one egg slot directly under the label was EMPTY!! LOL!.
I called Costco headquarters in Washington state and told this story. The fellow I spoke to pointed out that both of us had been cheated by whatever supplier provided those eggs to Costco's Virginia store.
He said I could get a full carton of eggs simply by talking to the manager of the store where we bought it.
He was right. I got my replacement eggs. Got a good laugh out of how the strategic position of a factory label can hide cheating in a carton of eggs. Always will wonder whether the shortchanging of Costco was intentional by the supplier?

I hope the first thing you did was contact Costco.

@novamc1, never thought of being egg-cheated, but I always open the cartons to make sure none of them are cracked. Sometimes, the clerk does too.

I do that in a normal grocery store, but Costco packaging doesn't make opening-before-buying very feasible where I shop.
You are absolutely right, though. If the carton opens easily for inspection, do the prudent thing!!
