Books. Specifically books related to my paternal ancestry.
It's amazing the kinds of records you can find going back centuries - that have been compiled into reference books.

I forgot,I also collect quilts. We hang them above the bed in our br,we made the quilt hanger in there. Ours are seasonal and holiday themed.
The market has fallen out of the collectible market. We sold all our Hummels (except 2)
years ago. Then the price went way down and we were gladwe had sold them.

Well, that's often how it happens. Something attracts then, wondering about it sends you off looking for more.
I wondered about the person responsible for the lead in to Masterpiece Mystery and found it to be Edward Gorey. Then I found other of his designs and loved it so I've become an E G collector unintentionally.

I have collected French opaline glass, some of it valuable. I will have to leave detailed notes for my heir, who may or may not want it, but who will need to know the value for resale.
At the other end of the value scale, I collect nuts from places I visit! I keep them in a pewter bowl and have them from all over the US as well as Europe and South America. They probably don't have any value to anyone other than me.

Nuts, I wonder how that came about. Do you suppose there are other nut collectors out there?

I have a collection of vintage watches. They all wind up and are fine time pieces. Solid gold only, not gold filled.
I have quite a collection of solid gold bangle bracelets. Some are 24k. Again,no gold filled.
Also, homemade Santa's made by American artists. All have porcelain handmade and hand painted faces and hands. I also have some Hawaiian handmade dolls.
In addition, wooden puzzle boxes. I really like hand crafted wooden things, so I have other small wooden things as well.
Lastly, food platters and unusual serving pieces.
I am very discerning. I don't just buy to add to my collections. I have to truly love something. No one buys me anything to add to my collections. Everything is hand picked by me.
added: I just remembered that I collect buttons too.

No. We live in a 1 BR/1 BA apartment with little storage. I'm not really a collector, anyway, but if I was I wouldn't have the room for anything. What storage I have, I need it for necessities. I'm okay with that, too.
