Re: How do you report stuff?

There are always going to be people who disagree with others.  There are some people who will always say the opposite.

There are only a few times in life where we have to be around people who we feel (for whatever reason) bother us.

This website isn't one of them.  Just ignore them....most of the time I'm able to do that...why not try that?

Well now she knows she can use the report button as her own personal chat button.

@truffle

Yup, now that she knows how to contact the mods, she should never have to ask how ever again.

*wink*

Though it obviously has worked for you and a few others I don't think it works for everyone.

Rhetorical question, why would the mods want to be bothered with chats when they have banned people for using the report button for what it was originally designed. A person could hit report on three people in a thread and be banned for over use as others have categorically stated happened to them. Can't trust them to not do the same for using report as a chat button, imo.  But hey knock yourselves out.  Woman LOL

I know you said it was rhetorical, @truffle, but I wanted to agree with you that excessive flagging is a violation and I've seen posters remark that they were temporarily banned for that reason.   So I suppose the controls are in place to discourage this kind of frequent "chatting."   They provide a method of explaining why a report is being submitted, so there's nothing wrong with using it in that respect.    Personally, I wouldn't want to abuse that feature and I doubt the moderators would look kindly on anyone who did.   We might literally knock ourselves right out of posting privileges...🙃

I suppose, discussions like this become pointless, after a time.  We each have our distinctive points of view.  I will simply say that politics is in the eye of the beholder, and I frequently see political digs and comments in these threads.

Have a good evening, all.

I'm sorry you saw the discussion as pointless, @Oznell.   That's unfortunate, because I think all the posters and their comments have value.    I think everyone's contributions are interesting and worth considering, regardless of whether or not they're the same as my perspective.    We don't learn anything new if we only read or hear things that are in complete agreement with us.   Thanks, and I hope you have a good evening, too.

I don't see a reason to report as inappropriate. If I don't like it I just move on.

If I could just say something here, I don't believe @Oznell thread was provocative or meant to bait anyone.  She wanted to highlight an article that maybe others would enjoy even though many on this board would not agree or be interested in said article.  The same has happened to me with threads in the past.  Fair enough but I guess I would respectfully ask, if you see a thread that you do not agree with, maybe just walk on by and let folks have their discussion.  We all know we don't agree on everything but I would like folks to be able to have a discussion without others shutting it down simply because they don't agree if that makes sense.

In other words, keep our "mouths" shut when we see a violation, not matter how it's disguised, and let the violators run amuck.

With all due respect she started a thread on a person ...... topic that has been poofed each time you or she starts them. That's disrespectful of the Mods and other posters imo. And VERY provocative intended bait.

You think everybody should be permitted to violate standards and we should just walk on by? I don't.

Fair enough @blueluna, I didn't know this had happened before so I appreciate your response.  I did see the thread that was posted and poofed and I personally felt it should have been given a little room to breathe but I also appreciate this is not my sandbox.  Thank you again for your response.

What else is there to report on the CNN thread?  There are holes everywhere already.
