Thanks, dooBdoo, I appreciate that. But I feel strongly that I don't even want to register complaints (unless it was horrible, or profane or something) on other people's threads. There is plenty expressed on these boards that is highly controversial to me and many others, but it doesn't hurt me for them to have it.
Many people find CNN's turn to partisanship to be distressing. And believe it or not, "controversial". But that is no reason to shut something down. I have noticed over time, that there are some on the boards who repeatedly visit threads they don't like, and try to get them shut down, and try to silence the poster. Things are said that in my opinion are unkind, and even defamatory at times to me, to other people as well.
Not good, in my opinion.
@Oznell, You're welcome. Certainly it's our choice whether or not to use the report feature, and that's been the topic of many lively 😀 threads. The fact remains that we're part of the community, and the guidelines ask us to use it if we feel something is inappropriate so I'm not going to judge those who do so:
"Report Inappropriate content - We work very hard to keep conversations friendly, engaging, helpful, and productive - with your best interests at heart. We don’t read every discussion so we ask for your help by flagging inappropriate comments for our review."
If we don't want to be part of the problem and we do want to be part of the solution, wouldn't it make sense to first think about what we are doing if our own posts or threads are frequently removed (rather than blaming others)? And secondly, if we have significant concerns shouldn't we give voice to them either by posting on the thread we question or, perhaps, by using the report feature? If we feel strongly but do nothing... well, I guess I don't understand that. Just my opinion, but the example of the CNN thread compared to repeated threads about political figures, political commentators, etc., isn't an equitable one.
Also, once we know certain people or topics are consistently deleted, it makes no sense to keep trying to start threads about them, in my opinion. If they're deleted, it's not because certain posters didn't like them -- it's because the Moderators deemed them to be violations.
