The beaches are closed,for everyone's safety. Makes sense to me. People have a mortgage or rent that has to be paid monthly, enjoy what you pay for, why try to escape your surrondings, your home is your castle. Many out of work, consider it your free time to do many things you wanted to do in your space. One complains that they have to go to work, now they complain, that they have to stay home. Take up a hobby,fix things that need to be tended to, and be content in the moment.We can make a dog stay, but humans that is another issue. We, all need to be mindful of others, and watch our conduct, be responsible. This, stay at home is to keep you and your loved ones alive. I, don't understand why it's so hard to understand that they have these new orders in place to protect us.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I have discovered the joy of a car ride as well. Last week I took the back roads in my New England and saw the many blossoming trees and daffodils which we are missing due to quarantine. Only out for 20 minutes by myself. Enjoy your rides

I have an elderly family member I'm in quarantine with. They go out once a week to drive their car (recommended every week you should do this for at least 15 min) & usually stops at the post office (you can mail letters without leaving your car) plus drives around a little just to get out. So if she's stopped, can say she went to the post office, which is not a lie!

I live in PA too. 2X so far (weekends) we drove to a huge park in next town to walk a bit. No one was there. All the kids playground equipment was roped off too for weeks. We stay 20 minutes, feed squirrels and leave. My brother (another area in PA) drives on weekends to a bike trail and rides bikes with his wife. No one stopped any of us.

*We will not go around other people* Had anyone been at the park we would leave.

Reason we drive to deserted area and not walk around here is; The cops should patrol our country development. People in our development, some are out chatting and letting their kids play with each other as in not their siblings, with other kids in the other houses!. The nurse next door had company over too (you'd think she'd know better!).

I have not seen my kids or grandkids since this started. We do not want to make each other sick if one of us would be carrying it. (Because a few are still essential working) We even cancelled all the 4 birthday parties for March in our family when this just started. I miss them ALL terribly but this is how it has to be!.

Frankly I think they entire country should be shut down for weeks, and I mean everything! So this goes away!

Amen. I live in PA, too. DH is working from home and I've been furloughed. We're adults and don't need a Sunday drive for entertainment. We understand we're in a pandemic and staying at home is a small, temporary sacrifice to help restore the public health. I don't like it either, but it's less about us as individuals and more about the health of our fellow citizens.

"Everything" ?

As in 100% everything?

Grocery stores too?

So someone runs out of food, you want them to go hungry?

Some people still have to work, you know those in the medical field, police officers, etc, you want their jobs locations to shut down too?

That's part of your "everything" , because everything means 100%, complete, total.

They will need gas for their vehicles in order to get to and from work, so if gas stations are closed too, they can't get to and from their jobs.

If beaches are closed, he shouldn't be surfing. It doesn't matter if he's the only person out there at a particular moment. One person surfing will lead to other people also thinking it's okay, and in short time the beaches will be crowded.

A lot of these closures and rules are only necessary because a whole lot of people didn't use common sense in the first place.

@tobes We haven't gone just riding around. Since finding out walking/hiking was ok but just going for a ride was not, we will do what they say, of course.

My car gets driven once every 10 days to 2 weeks for food runs. DD goes for mail once or twice a week and every now and then to the convenience store for milk.

I know my luck, if I tried going on back roads, sure as God makes little green apples, something would happen and I'd be ticketed. (After all I'm the same person that got pregnant 10 yrs. after my tubes were tied and cauterized to boot.) No I won't do any undo riding around.

At this point if they said to just stay in your closet I'd do it. Anything to end this sooner.

I live in Wisconsin, and my husband and I have gone out a few times just for a ride, and also to pick up food from a restaurant. We call it in ahead of time, and they bring it out to you, so we aren't getting out of our cars at all.......

I don't see anything wrong with that,especially since our weather has been warming up a bit and everyone has Cabin Fever!
