@sidsmom

Important messages.

One problem is one I don't think can be changed, though.  Kids (and adult) are going to be going about their lives (as Evan and his mystery girl were doing) and they won't notice.  You cannot be vigilant at all times.

Which isn't to say that you should ignore signs that you DO see.

From the bases overseas. We have been pumping money into them for decades. It's time for them to protect themselves. This has been going on since the end of WW2..The money saved would help pay for this ,or pay for all of it

Re: From Rocks to Armed Guards.....

Each year, United States taxpayers pay on average $10,000 to $40,000 more for each service member stationed abroad, compared with those at home. By my very conservative calculations completed during a six-year study of overseas bases, maintaining installations and troops overseas cost at least $85 billion in 2014 — more than the discretionary budget of every government agency except the Defense Department itself. Adding our presence in Afghanistan and Iraq, the bill could reach $156 billion.

The Bush and Obama administrations have made some progress closing bases, especially in Europe. Still, the military has acknowledged having excess base capacity worldwide.

Maybe all the people that are involved in pumping

money into the organizations that fund these

protest could pay to help make our schools safe.

I could make the same claim about the NRA

I have no problem with totally outlawing the types of guns that are so often used in mass shootings.

I don't care about anyone's right to own one, not if the inability to own one saves just one child.  You can whine all day long about how you want one and you need one.  It's bs.

I have a AR-15 instead of a 12 gauge shotgun, I know it looks scary but the truth is it's more accurate & easier to use. I've read the reason why the AR-15 is used in these shootings is a case of monkey see monkey do & most of the shooters know nothing about guns. I understand many are against ownership but the one child argument is a slippery slope, just about anything can harm if used improperly or as a weapon. I won't pretend to know the answer but do agree with raising the age limit to 21...it takes a lot longer to become an adult now compared to when I grew up. Be well @QueenDanceALot

I’m OK with police in schools. We have them here. Arming teachers is not the answer and it is not what most teachers signed up for. Many would not feel comfortable with that and would probably quit.

Don’t get me started on the NRA. I cannot post what I think of that organization.

Where do I start?

Yes, an AR-15 not only looks scary, it is.  The fact that it's more accurate and easier to use is the issue.  Why do people need one?  Who are we defending ourselves against?  A government, a neighbor, a spouse, a deer, an elk a charging rhino?

Any other object can be used as a weapon?  How many children, people, animals can be taken down with a knife, baseball bat, bow and arrow vs. an AR-15?  More importantly, why?

It takes longer to become an adult these days?  I don't think so, given what's happening around the world and the examples we see of what our young people are capable of.

I'm not being facetious.  I'm just looking for an explanation for some of these pro gun arguments.
