As for the signs, neither is likely to be a useful deterrent when a distorted mind is intent on causing mayhem.

I have no problem with totally outlawing the types of guns that are so often used in mass shootings.
I don't care about anyone's right to own one, not if the inability to own one saves just one child. You can whine all day long about how you want one and you need one. It's bs.

Do you remember that just a week or two ago the heavily armed teacher mistakenly shot off his gun into the classroom ceiling, bringing down debris that injured one of his students in the neck?
One of our posters put up several news stories of other incidents like that.

Oh, wait.
While I agree with your point, it's better than a box of rocks, IMO.
Not all law enforcement officers are cowards.
They would not be ‘law enforcement.’
They would be ‘armed security.’
Two totally different animals.
Boyfriend used to call 'armed security' "Rent-a-Cops".
I am in favor of actual well trained and equipped law enforcement to be present in schools. No, I don't like the "armed camp" criticism I hear, but it beats dead children.
Unfortunately, many cities/towns/etc don’t have the funds to hire
trained & equipped armed security at every single school within
their districts.
And as for law enforcement, many cities/towns/etc don’t have
the available personnel. If there’s any overtime, most likely
it will patrolling their respective city, etc.
It’s a difficult situation, to say the least.

The president has the power to use the military to protect our kids, and this is a national crisis. I would do it if I sat in the Oval Office

I will say to this the same as I said before: as a teacher, I would not work at an institution who armed their staff. It would destroy the dynamic of the classroom and the student/teacher connection, and does not guarantee that any kind of safety for all would be achieved, particularly not against an AR-15. Contrary to some faulty thinking, arming everyone does not mean no one gets killed. It just means there's more potential for more to be killed, particularly innocent bystanders. School kids don't need to be in an armed fortress waiting for their teachers to get in a shoot out with some deranged individual.

I think it's probably a prudent move. That ridiculous and dangerous and insulting decision about rocks did get worldwide attention. Some people were amused but most people were disgusted by it. There are a lot of crazies out there. As long as those armed guards are real guards and not teachers, I'm ok with it.

You're absolutely correct, of course.
Heck, teachers can't even get the school supplies they need without paying for them out of their own pockets.
The situation is dreadful.

The military is understaffed. Where will the personnel come from?
