I googled "does sun city Florida allow dogs" and the answer was - yes they do.

we had friends who lived in Sun City (newest section) outside Tampa area.  There home was lovely but this complex is huge and thousands of homes (just like the Villages).

They ended moving into the Sun City senior assisted/independent living center (not cheap either).  They passed and I know the daughter sadly the house value was much lower than they paid as they have 100s for sale (lots of estate sales).

The clubhouse, pools and amenities are vast but I understand the HOAs fees are assessed on which "development" you live and I know they were higher than most.

Also, you do know at the Villages there is a $25,000 bond that is paid to own a home there, not exactly sure what it covers. My closest friend here has considered moving there for the activities but does not want to pay high HOA fees and the bond.

You can do a Google search using those words plus Sarasota, Fort Myers, St Pete, Tampa, Naples.

I was looking into Fort Myers a few years ago but decided to stay in Miami where I live.

Good luck

@chiclet

When crane lakes was being built I put a down payment on a manufactured home (2001). My FIL lived in Port Orange and we came down for Daytona race and fell in love with the place.

then I realized I wanted to OWN the total package. In these places you don't own the property and you lease the land (like rent) at the time it was pretty high and home insurance is ridiculous because they use the same perimeters as a "mobile home". Although they are beautiful and offer lots of activities.

I know someone who purchased a camping site at a park in Naples for $80,000 and put a camper there. They also still pay $1000 a year fee to use that site. IMO that is insane. At least the park does cut ther grass for them. But they have to insure their property and pay taxes on it.They have to pay all their utilities and internet & cable as well.

There are a lot of places that can be very inticing, you have to be a smart consumer.These sales people really know how to push people's buttons. be very careful.

At our campground in Pa we pay $1900 rent for a year, and the only utility we pay is electric. Cable and internet are included, we only insure our camper and our golf cart, because they are our property, and of course , we pay no taxes because we don't own any land. When we decide to stop snow birding we simply sell the camper& golf cart and drive away.
