The difference between drones and RC planes/helicopters is that drones are much easier to fly. Any idiot can fly a drone where anyone without experience will crash an RC plane/helicopter.
No one needs an armed drone and the government has recently imposed lots of rules on drone owners. The problem is always the same though. The people the rules are made for don't follow the rules, while those who do follow the rules don't need the rules as they behave on their own.

What next? Homes with built in cannons and machine guns out the front window, aimed at passers by?
Oh Noel, not you too? Really? BAN/BAN/BAN? And that'll stop the Bad Guys? How many bans have worked keeping things away from the "bad guys"?

It could be argued that an armed drone is simply a remotely controlled firearm and therefore permitted under the 2nd.
Not by this CCW permit carrier. The 2nd was meant for protecting a person/family and property, not for offensive purposes. And I am sure you knew/know that as well as this Card Carrying member.

John,
You DON'T think armed drones should be banned?

John, intent may count in a court of law, but the real crime is the behavior.
Intending to buy a pressure cooker, or even buying one, is not the same as actually hiding a bomb inside a pressure cooker and planting it to harm others.
Noel, I bought a drone/still fly it, and I know you cannot fly them close to an airport higher than 500'. Now we live exactly 6 blocks from a small private airport, but since I fly at about 20-30' above the ground?
Buying a drone does not mean, for the majority that buy them to enjoy, that they have any intention of arming them or using them to check out their neighbors?
Intent in the law is only 1 part of the many, in some cases, it takes to convict one of committing a crime.

John @hckynut
Please take note I did not suggest banning drones, I did support banning ARMED DRONES.

John,
You DON'T think armed drones should be banned?
Of course I think a person that arms a drone should be arrested. I am sure there are already some laws on the books to cover something like a citizen flying an armed weapon.
I can't give you a specific law, but since it took me a lot of time/pass skill tests, and a good chunk of money to get a permit to carry. So I can't imagine a law not being on the books making it illegal to be in possession of an armed drone. A permit just to" legally carry" an armed and loaded weapon is tough, no way someone can fly a loaded weapon, over which is not on their body?

Then it sounds as if we are in agreement ![]()
I can't imagine being a mother of young children today and having to worry if a drone near the backyard where they are playing is armed or not.
I have read that law enforcement is worried about it being a new way to execute drive-by shootings.
John, is it difficult for you to read small print? I can make it larger, like this next time, if you wish.

Concealed permits are not difficult to obtain in all states.

That's not true. Each state and even within the state have different laws.
