I remember seeing this story on the news sometime last year, and I really don't see the difference between a drone, rc plane, or a rc helicopter. All three can be rigged with cametas and stuff, yet you don't hear people complaining about rc planes and helicopters.
Are people forgetting that rc planes and helicopters can be rigged with stuff too?

What are rc planes, rc helicopters? Are they small-ish? (I seriously don't know....)

In December of 2015, the FAA requires all drones be registered. If they are not registered, a penalty/fine can be levied on the owner.

Remote controlled airplanes and remote controlled helicopters come in various sizes. Someone in my neighborhood has a remote controlled airplane, and they fly it every so often.
They have been around for decades.

What's to stop someone from arming a drone after it's registered?
If it's not illegal, it will be done.
Even if it's illegal, it will probably be done.

Thanks, PlaidPants. If they have cameras (or worse) on them, I'm not thrilled. ......... Although, if someone lives out in the mountains or desert, etc., it would be nice to take aerial videos, only of the landscape, just to send to out-of-town relatives, friends. (No 'peeping', though.) But that would be out of respect to others' privacy. All in all, I'm not a fan of Peeping Drones looking through our windows, and into our houses. I guess most of us will eventually have to have those sheer panels as a visual barrier during the daytime.

As technology advances we are now seeing the bad that it can for society. Cell phones, how great they are/the internet/how great it is/tiny cameras to protect our homes. I could list many more which can be good or bad, depending on their use?
Cell phones were great, until? The internet is great, or is it? Technology marches on and with those with bad intentions will always find a way to take advantage of it.
It cannot be "regulated away", unless all of us are willing to let good things be taken away from us because of a very small minority. Look around you now. Did you say our Nation's Pledge when you were in school? I did.
I remember when nobody batted an eye when I said " Merry Christmas" to them. Now?? Let's see, what shall we regulate next? And we know everyone abides by the regulations, right?

John, saying Merry Christmas is not regulated.
And what's the difference between someone taking a picture with their phone or their camera?
I agree with you that those with bad intentions will always find a way... but hopefully they can and will be punished.

They should just ban them.
Hey! Let's ban 'em, that'll do it. Hey, let's ban pressure cookers. We all know what they can do in the wrong hands. While we're at it, let's bad remote controls, we all know what they can do in the hands of the evil.
Hey! Let's ban this forum, there may be evil creatures planning??

John, intent may count in a court of law, but the real crime is the behavior.
Intending to buy a pressure cooker, or even buying one, is not the same as actually hiding a bomb inside a pressure cooker and planting it to harm others.
