Several months ago, I posted a thread that seemed to result in a "light bulb moment" for many, LOL, so here it is a again in case more of you are interested.

Nope, it's not on these new boards, as I searched all 100 pages of my activity.

Each person, of course, needs to take into account their own unique characteristics re: their face and hair, plus their overall individual style.

After you're done, let us know how you made out!  

The 2.25" (5.5 cm) Rule

To try this cool formula, all you need is a pencil and ruler:

1)   Position a pencil horizontally at the point of your chin.  Then, place a ruler vertically at the bottom of your ear lobe. 

2)  Take the measurement from the intersection of the pencil and ruler. 

If it's less than 2.25':  short/shortish hair flatters you most.

If it's more than 2.25":  long/longish hair flatters you most.

If it's at 2.25":  most hair lengths are flattering.

This easy-but-exact test was discovered by hair expert John Frieda.  The result clearly indicates whether a face is better suited to long(er) hair or short(er) hair.

My own measurement is a whopping 3", for crying out loud (as "sfnative" said), which just emphasizes what I've known most of my life, LOL.  

And now I know it's the reason why I currently sport 'longish'/medium-length hair (the longest length is 4" past my shoulders), and haven't had short hair since I was 12.

Giles Robinson, senior stylist at John Frieda Salons UK, said:  "It's all about angles.  

John studied faces, and saw that the angle of the jaw bone determined whether or not someone would look best with short(er) hair or long(er) hair.

Interesting!...Mine is greater than 2.25 and my hair is a bit below my collarbone..I do not like my hair short  all tho i do like it up in a ponytail or  messy bun.I have tried on wigs to test out short hair and its a definite no go for me but my DD liked it.Shows what she knows!lol.

Aha!...I am just about 2.25 and have always looked my best with either short hair or shoulder length hair...anything in between just doesn't work for me.

I also did this test on my husband!...lol

Yep, at a 3 " mark, always have worn long hair too, but I can do shorter.

Come to think of it, yep.  

And though she's rockin' the kitty wig, LOL, she's probably happier with no hairstyle.
