How wonderful that there is this type of thread.  My husband passed away last year of cancer.  He was diagnosed on our 40th wedding anniversary and died 7 months later.

I thank my 2 sons for keeping me sane throughout the past 18 months.  I still had my 12 year old Dobe to keep me conpany until I had to have her euthanized due to cancer just 2 weeks ago.  Life can be difficult, but we are all survivors and mut go on with our lives.  We take a different path and learn to move forward.

I understand what all of you are going through.  We did not sign up to me a member of this club.

Hi Snappy and Friends here.    Below is a copy of a post I put onto another thread that I post on a lot.   I hope you don't mind that it's a copy.   Not easy to put into words, as I am sure you know.

Just a short note to let you know that Mike,  my brother by osmosis,  died last night of heart failure.   He's been in and out of the hospital several times this summer,  due to not being able to sleep due to not being able to breathe.  He's had congestive heart failure and all of the conditions associated with it for some time.  He seemed to be getting better as he told DD yesterday afternoon that he felt good and was hoping to go home Saturday.
My younger brother, his wife, and Katie (Mike's long time companion) left there last evening and then Katie called DD at about 9:45 saying they were trying to resuscitate him.  DD called  his cardiologist, who she works for, and he rushed to the hospital.  They tried CPR for about an hour but it didn't work.   We knew he was in danger for a while now, but were still stunned by this.

This is what my  GD  posted on Facebook last night after she got home from the hospital along with DD..

I got home from my boyfriends and saw my mom's car wasn't there, which was highly unusual. I called her and she was rushing and she told me she was at the hospital. I got in the car and rushed to the hospital. He is my grandma's brother, but the closest person I have to a grandpa. Little did we know we had to say goodbye to him tonight. I love you so much Uncle Mike. It's not going to be the same without you. I know you're up there laughing and smiling and catching up with Grandpa. I miss you already. This seems so unreal. I know you're in a happier place now, but you'll be missed by all of us. We love you so much. Fly high Uncle Mike. R.I.P 9/17/15

Mike was taken into our family by my parents over 65 years ago and has been our 'brother' in every way.  A very kind and good person,  he is loved by so many and I know he is Home with the Good Lord. Heart

I am worried about Katie.  She's nearly 80 now and is very frail.  She and Mike were so dependent on each other.  I hope and wish her the best and will check on her when I get home, Saturday, next.
