Have any of you who receive packages regularly received a request to purchasing larger mailbox ? There were two notes ,one looked like from the Post Office and was Orange with package measurements etc. and one was from her.
I can barely pound a nail straight and had to ask a male neighbor put up the box I have as had mine stolen 15 years ago. It was a large one that was taken. Not an easy project for me I think these large boxes are more difficult to find. I could not locate one to purchase.I have a towel bar to put up right now and trying to tackle that myself. I am not mechanical.
The majority of the time I go outside and she does even have to get out of her vechicle and hands me the mail and boxes If not puts it I side my garage that is open. My dogs have never bothered her and inside.
I am ordering more on line as many people I am sure. She is a good carrier and probably overworked but not everyone can just do this easily. Have any of you who have regular mailboxes been asked to replace them with a larger one?

You might want to check with your postmaster regarding your carrier's request.
It sounds as if you already have a workable system in place to receive your packages.
I think the carrier's request is unusual. I live in a condo/ townhome community where we all have the same small mailboxes. Large parcels are left by the garage or front door.
UPS and FedEx make due with delivering your parcels- I think your mail carrier can do likewise. Why should you have to go to the trouble and expense to make his or her life easier?

Never heard of such a thing. I have the rural type of mailbox at end of a short driveway and thought these boxes were a standardized size and demensions. I'd be inclined to ignore that request.

Nope, we live on a drive rural route, and our mail men and mail woman do this. If our packages don't fit in our mailbox, they bring it around to our patio room around the back.
Since UPS transfers some BIG boxes to USPS? I'd have to build my own post and mailbox.
City routes? Haven't had once since 1977.

do you have a long driveway or a front door that is difficult to get to?
our mailperson brings all larger packages to the front door OR leaves them inside the garage if it is open. the mailperson leaves the regular mail in the mailbox.
we get packages almost daily.

No, I haven't. As far as I know, we have the biggest available.

We live in a rural area, but last time our box got destroyed by hoodlums, my dh did get about the biggest mail box Lowe's had.
The mail lady still has to bring things to the house sometimes though as I am ordering a lot aso.
If I know she is coming up the drive way, I usually try to run out there, so she doesn't even have to get out of ther car. I go out and try to help the UPS and Fedex people also.
I don't think you should have to get a bigger box, @Gorgf.

My mailbox has almost been broken by mail carriers trying to shove packages in them. Sometimes I can't even get them out and have to have my husband do it. They should bring items to your door. They always bring bigger items to the door but will try to shove smaller things in there often. I just got a new mailbox and hope they don't break it.

My mailman leaves packages below the mailbox which is on my porch. Sometimes I get packages larger than any mailbox I have ever seen. On the porch is fine with me.

Since you have a mailbox, the mail should be delivered. The letter carrier should not be coercing you to get a bigger box. I would ignore the complaints until forced to do otherwise.
