Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

He everyone! Here's another update from WV. A few more zones were opened up today but one of them had to be stopped because there wasn't enough water pressure to flush. They reopened it later this evening. People have had to open up their homes windows and doors to let the smell of the chemical out. No one is even thinking about drinking the water. Erin Brockovich is here and she held a Town meeting last night and gave many some useful information on what to do from here.

People here have tried to get Tide to come here to help out with their van team but they won't help. There are 300,000 people without water and no one can do laundry. You would think this would be good for Tide but they said that since the water is starting to come back on they refuse. They should have been here days go. I feel for these mother and fathers of babies and hospitals along with us taking care of my dad.

We have gotten in some more help today and would love for you to watch this here. This in my town now just a few miles away. The first part of the video is actually my town just a bad view of it....lol. And Tide says they can't come.....huuumph!

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Another update *******

Our zone has been lifted on the water now so we can start flushing. Hubby got home a little bit ago and is helping and I'm keeping the animals in a room away from it all. I turned on our hot water this evening when I got home to see how bad the smell was going to bed and it literally made me sick to my stomach. At 10:30 hubby calls and says we're in the blue!

So, here I am on the computer in the bedroom with my babies and he is dealing with the water. He has fans in the windows blowing the smell out and we have closed up the bathroom doors to keep the smell more or less contained. We are going to wait a bit and flush again to make sure the hot water tank is empty.

Please say a prayer or keep us in your prayers as we go through the next few days, months and even years for that matter that everything will be fine. I can't begin to tell you how scared I am of this but I am trying to be uplifting about it all. That's all I can do right now. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

No, the water still isn't safe even though they are telling us that it is. Many people still smell the chemical in their water. I took a shower Thursday finally and my skin burned. Yesterday it felt like someone sticking my skin with a sharp pin. I talked to someone about it and was told that it was because the chemical was a skin and eye irritant and it would gradually go away. I took another shower this evening and I'm not feeling that tonight. No one is drinking the water or cooking with it. We aren't being told everything and we don't trust anyone from WVAWC. Several communities who were told they could flush ended up not being able to use their water again. They were told to have limited contact with it. It's scary!

We finally ate out but we took our own drinks. McDonald are offering people cans of sodas or water. I thought that was nice that people have an option. I did get my clothes washed as the smell has pretty much gone but I have no idea if I'll ever drink the water again.

Thanks for checking in on us here in WV.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Thank you Lucibee! That is very kind of you. It's so hard not to go to the fridge and get water through the door to drink or ice for that matter. We have to purchase a new water filter now but I'm going to wait until I know the water is ok. No need to waste the money right now. So many people have questions and we want other companies to test our water to see if we are being told the truth about the levels and to see if there might be something else in it covering up the first chemical. We are clueless and not getting answers.

I know I'm late on here but prayers for all of you. Hope the problem is gone soon. I don't blame you for not trusting officials. Sounds like a good idea to me to have the water tested by a private company. Hope things are much better soon!

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

I pray for your whole area. This should have never been allowed to happen. We need tho strengthen agencies that monitor , foods, water and other resources. Most of these agencies are understaffed and underfunded for the sheer size of their domains. How this chemical could be used with so little known about it, beats me. How the plant could be located so near a water source is even more baffling. I guess that families will be bathing in Zephyr Hills water and washing everything with bottled water. Sorry for this happening to you.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Thank you so much for the continued prayers. This whole thing is one huge scary mess. Some people are still smelling the odor in their homes and are being told now to keep flushing until they don't smell it anymore. The water company has only issued 1000 gallons credit for this flush so people are going to have a hard time paying their bill for this. Yes, we have to foot the bill. Freedom was allowed to file bankruptcy!! As far as my home I don't smell it anymore. It might be because we were some of the last ones to flush. I don't know for sure. No one still yet has drank the water. Everyone is buying water to drink and cook with. I knew something like this could happen but just didn't think it would be here. It's always some place else....ya know? As West Virginians, we are not going to take this lightly and just let this slide and go away quietly. This has ruffled a lot of feathers and I'm glad people are fighting back.
