Another update********

They are starting the lift the ban in zones today. The level has tested an under the 1.0 ppm for over 24 hours now. I don't know how many zones there are but my home isn't in the clear yet. It is where I work though but there are no washing machines or showers here either I don't know how long it will take to open up each zone for flushing but we shall see. We're getting closer!!

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Thanks Sandgirl! I know you are praying and I appreciate it very much. You should have seen my washing this stuff with rain water Saturday....lol. I just heated it up and had hubby starting pouring. It worked like a charm. I washed again this morning and hubs got outta bed to pour water on my head so I could rinse. Team work at its best.

Dad is ok...they have plenty of water thanks to neighbors, my brother and myself. My brother took dads soiled clothes to the laundry mat a hour away to get them washed along with his own clothes....family of 5. I will be soooo glad when this is over with though. I did get an idea from someone though....use the crockpot to keep hot water all the time in. It worked great for my hair and my bird bath.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

luvboyds, really sending prayers to you and everyone who is suffering in this mess. Very scary, and what an eye opener for me and probably many as far as what we need to be prepared for. I saw a reporter asking someone (an official) how they could be sure the water was safe even once it was cleared. Be careful and stay strong. Hugs.

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Exactly Krissie62! All we know is what they tell us. The ppm is really low almost nothing right now so I'm hoping the water company is able to flush everything out now once it's entered into the system. A guy I work with said he's not drinking the water until next year. Not sure if he's serious or not{#emotions_dlg.confused1} I think it will be bottled water for me for awhile after this. I'm just ready for this to be over with so I can have clean clothes and a shower again.

Yes, definitely start being prepared if anyone hasn't already. Food is a must that you can eat without using water. Stock up on water and paper plates, utensils hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and body wipes as well. We have learned.

luvboyds, I have been following your thread with prayers and empathy, as we have experienced both power and water outtages for many days due to weather, but we are not in a city, not newsworthy and were on our own. In addition to the paper plates, wipes, etc., I bought a big old olive container. The kind olives are shipped in here to the USA. People put spigots on them and then sell them. Maybe it holds 80 gallons or so. Point is, even though the water smells like olive brine (LOL) the animals don't mind, and if I had a poor baby with diaper rash I'm sure that little bottom would love it anyway. Smiley Wink I just try to swap out the water a couple times a year. - Bird

Re: We're In A State Of Emergency

Thank you so much The Bird! That means a lot. I'm sorry you have had to go through something like this before along with no electric. That would be a nightmare. That's a great idea about using old olive jar for water storage. I am seriously considering doing rain barrells now. So far they are on zone 3 as far a bringing the system back up. I have no idea what zone we are in but my luck I'll be in the last zone. Everyone is scared to drink the water now including myself. Many of us are sticking to bottled water for awhile just to be safe. Fingers crossed that our zone is tomorrow.

luvboyds: Thank you for keeping us posted. You are doing a great job! Don't forget to dump the ice in the ice maker, (if you have one), and the hot water tank. I would stick to the bottled water, too. More prayers coming your way!
