You're correct, @Trinity11 , he is not a medical doctor. He is a doctor of chiropractic. Chiropractors have much more extensive study hours required in the area of nutrition than medical doctors.

I know a friend who was advised not to try the intermittent fasting because he has trouble with hypoglycemia. There are many health issues that may not work with this plan. Epilepsy and diabetes are two that come to mind.

As I said in my other post, to me choosing the definition of fasting is the same. Add the seemingly 100 or so variables one chooses of how/when/what/why! It becomes as complicated as the word overweight.
That last word, in and of itself, means whatever one chooses it to mean. Body weight numbers to me mean very little. Why! Being 50-60% of one's body weight is fluid, and most know that can vary by the hour?
My main interest in my body for many decades now, has not been scale numbers, by the pound or kilo. It is what is my body composition.
Seems like too many have taken the word fasting to an extreme, and now every single person can use their own definition of it's meaning. So? Have at it!

I am so against these fad diets. Why don't you just eat healthy and add some exercise. It is important that we feed our bodies not starve ourselves. IMHO, it will eventually hurt your body. You should only loose 1 to 2 lbs per week. Just remember you didn't gain the weight overnight and you will not loose it overnight. Have patience and take care of yourself. Take care. We only go through this life once.

As a scientist, I researched Intermittent Fasting and read many published studies, but your summary is outstanding.
It doesn't work and isn't appropriate for SOME, because they do not stick to it, don't understand the reasons and how the body reacts, and even Good Habits are hard for some to keep. They might have wrong expectations. They might have chronic conditions or medications that are not compatible with a long period of not eating solid foods.
I keep a heart healthy diet (American Heart Association) but also eat between 9 am and stop at 5 pm. Like @SilleeMee, I was not interested in losing weight.
It was not hard for me. I appreciate how my metabolism kicks in differently now. Body burns sugar differently during the fasting times. As we age, our pancreas simply does not process sugar well. So many develop Type II diabetes.
It also helps increase our AWARENESS of what we eat.
Grazing—what so many do, especially Working at Home—runs havoc on our bodies. We eliminate evening grazing (about which we are often largely unaware).

I eat far more healthfully now than I did when I tried (in vain) to do what you've chosen, but I am thrilled that you can do what you choose to do.
Fasting is definitely NOT a "fad". Some of the folks in the Old Testament did it.
Eating well is not nearly as simple for some of us as it is for others.

It all strikes me as which pro sports team do you root for. Same thing. Pick a side and go for it. Just don't waste your time trying to convince the guy wearing the other team's color why his side sticks. It only makes you look bad.
