Article in todays thehealthy dot com newsletter.

Eating one avocado a day can reduce bad cholesterol. Interesting article.
I forgot that avocados are actually a fruit, not a vegetable.

They've gone up in price so much that I've quit buying them, after that transportation boondoggle in Mexico.

Good to know. Thanks!
I love a good avocado and, from my POV, the best are California Haas.
I can just cut one in half, put in a little s&p, and eat away. You can take the other half, with the pit in it, and vac-seal it to store in refrigerator so it stays very well.
Haven't had one in a long time. Need to work on that.

Except in a salad, I've never had an avocado and have never bought one.

I wonder if guacamole is also beneficial.

the problem with buying avocados is you never know if they're good inside until you open them. Many times it looks good on the outside, but when you cut them open, it's all brown and spoiled. It's often a waste of money.
live tried all these different tips on how to tell a good one from a bad one , but it doesn't always work, so I just stay away from them now.

When I first moved to California and everyone there was raving about avocados I tried for a year to develop a taste for them to no avail. They were just so bland and tasteless to me.
I know they have health benefits but I figured there were other foods that i enjoyed more that could give me the same benefits.
It was the same with kiwi fruit. They also seemed very bland to me.

@Justholdingon You're so right. With them as costly as they are now, I hate to cut into one and find out it has to go in the trash. I used to purchase them often, but not now.

Not that I buy avocados that often, but haven't had a problem. I buy them when they are hard and as soon as they almost have a bit of give, I use them.
