My breathing is low on the finger gauge.  Lost weight, had issues since I fell down the stairs.

I would press the doctors for why your having issues with your breating, losing weight or falling shouldn't cause that.  I am sorry your having so many issues at once, I hope you feel better soon.  I wonder if its because you went from being very active to not being able to be active?

Re: Is Anyone Else on a Breathing Machine?

@ECBG - are you able to consult a respiratory specialist? That sound like there is more to this, the weather may be contributing as well it is so humid here that folks are being encouraged to stay in the AC when possible. Take good care of yourself, I hope you are feeling better soon.

@ECBG. I am so sorry for all you have gone through and continue to go through.  Honey, you will be on my prayer list.

I wonder if you have gone to a very large medical center to assess your problems.  BIG city ones.  I only ask because I know from experience that is where the best specialists are.

Two people I am close to did this.  And the medical care where I live is very good, but not as good as Boston and New York.  It saved them both.  Literally, it did.

Wonder if you have or if you would consider.  No local doctor recommended this, they did on their own.  They called a hospital, described their situation, and were given a specialist to handle their case.  And then an assessment visit.

Meanwhile, you certainly will be in my my heart and prayers.  I know what an active type of person you are, so this makes it even harder.  Please continue to let us know how you are doing.

All my best wishes,

Pam

Thank you.  The breathing issue is from lack of activity.

We are also in a medical hub ladies.

Love to you all.

I don't know what your situation is exactly, @ECBG, but how about gentle seated exercises to build up some strength?

Hope the machine makes you feel better.  Just don't trip over that pesky hose.

Please make sure to follow up with the specialists that were recommended by the prescribing MD.  Would heart and lung would be first up?

Re: Is Anyone Else on a Breathing Machine?

@ECBG

Inaddition to prescribing oxygen therapy for your low 02 saturation, you should have been given a handheld spirometer to use several times during the day to help strengthen your lung function to increase the amount of air your lungs take in when you breathe.

The spirometer has a mouthpiece and hose you blow into and the force of your breath raises a ball inside.  The more force you exert with each blow pushes the ball higher, and if you do this exercise daily, you strengthen your lungs and improve your oxygen saturation, which will show up in the number recorded from the pulse ox on your finger.
