There is an excellent book called The Cholesterol Myth. It really educated me on the subject. There is actually a formula you should use which uses your LDL, HDL & your Lipid panel & not just your LDL number.

For myself, my numbers were raised when I ate too many carbs and, of,course, didn't exercise as much. So that was that, we decided limit carbs, limit trans fats and we walk/run 2-3 miles every day. It's not fun, but it's easier once you establish a routine. Also, once I stopped eating eggs my levels went way down. Some people are not affected by eating eggs, I was.
