I have arthritis and as I get older (just turned 69) I feel it more and more. Mostly the achiness is in my hands and feet/legs and sometimes just all over when the weather changes. If I take Advil or Motrin it helps alot. I take 1 tablet a day when needed and it helps. I try not to take it often although once a day every day sure would be nice. What do you take for your arthritis? Is Celebrix still a popular medication? I have mentioned my current routine to my doctor and she said it is fine but to let her know if the discomfort worsens.

I'm 71 and have arthritis also. Neck, hands. My right knee was bad but joint replacement fixed it. Before I go to bed I take two Tylenol. That has really helped. Otherwise I would often lie awake, feeling the aching in my hands.
yes Celebrex is still prescribed, however I'm allergic to it or I'd be taking it. What is stopping you from taking one or two Motrin daily? Shouldn't be a problem.

I live with chronic pain and inflammation from an autoimmune disease called scleroderma. That causes inflammation in most of my joints. Arthritis translated means inflammation of the joints. I take a turmeric supp and it has helped me with my pain and inflammation a lot.

@bargainsgirl I have it in both knees. Sometimes better or worse in one or the other, they take turns! I treat my pain with tylenol and now and then with meloxicam. I also use a salon pas patch once in awhile and those help as well but mine is limited to my knees and isn't as severe as yours.
Hope you find some relief soon.

Have it All over. Neck, spine, knees, shoulder, wrists, ankle etc.
'I take 2 naproxen am and 2 pm---I take medical marijuana 4X daily. I am still in a great deal of pain.
yes I know re naproxen, it is dangerous--it is my choice. My doctors are aware of my regime.-I'm 70.
I was first diagnosed with arthritis in the back and neck at 44. It can be hell to live with.

I would stick with the cheap options you are using now for as long as possible, since you still have room to increase the dosage on those 2 products.
My mother used warm water soaks, heat producing creams, as well as wore light weight gloves to keep her hands warm.

I worked a heavy lifting job for over 30 years. My choice of sports was ice hockey, and I also was a distance runner. Needless to say I have had numerous injuries in almost every part of my body.
My body is riddled with Osteoarthritis, from my neck down to my Achilles Tendon, and most parts in between. Have had 2 back surgeries to remove 3 ruptured Lumbar Discs.
Because of a Colon Bleeding issue, I can only take Acetaminophen(tylenol) and it does very little on certain days, depending on my activity.
Celebrex? It is a strong NSAID and if on it for any sustained period, you might be subject to kidney damage. I was on it before my Colon bleeding issues, and my doctor had me have my kidney function checked every 3 months.
Remember that movement of the joints helps a lot. When in pain ones 1st instinct is to not move. For many this is a part of getting older, some moreso than others.
Send you my best wishes,

I'm not saying you're overweight for me a 14lb weight loss helped tremendously. Also take a diuretic daily for high blood pressure and for some reason that helos.
Exercise more and move as much as I can helped a lot too. No longer take NSAIDs and drink lots of water also.

I lived with arthritis pain for a while a number of years ago. I went to a pain clinic for shots in my back, but that proved ineffective for me long-term. Went for PT, which helped in conjunction with more PT in a warm water pool.
It was certainly helpful, but I kept looking for something that would help me get my life back by alleviating my pain. I began exploring supplements, and found that Lessman’s Turmeric 400 Curcumin, two tablets daily, worked wonders for me. Herbals used in many cultures for many years.
Believe it or not, my doctor has begun to prescribe these herbals for folks in such pain. If the weather is very wet, I can feel a bit of discomfort. But nothing like I used to feel.
People should never self-medicate with meds bought off the shelf in the drugstore. Always check with your doctor, as these medications can do you much harm with constant use.
You and your doctor may find roll-on pain relief lotions such as “Biofreeze” to help you.
If you can, it is very helpful to keep moving. As much as you can. Also, maintaining a good weight won’t hurt.
I am truly sorry for anyone who lives in pain, for any reason. I do hope that you find relief. And remember, that if your doctor recommends some pain medication for you, you likely will be better off than self-medicating. You would be tracked to eliminate permanent damage, I do believe.
All my best.
