Brava, @NycVixen. I think people who haven't been in your position, who don't know what it's like to lose control because they're using something (food, drink, shopping, etc.) to compensate for pain they're feeling or as a distraction from unhappiness, just do not understand what a huge sea change you've mad e in your life.
It's like people who say "well, just don't eat as much" to someone who's obese and depressed and eating for comfort. It makes sense on paper, but it takes deep work and commitment to make the changes that help the person do it over time. "Just don't eat as much," just like "don't buy things you don't really need or can't afford," is a result of change, not a prescription for it.
The consistency with which you've applied what you've learned and built on your successes is especially instructive. It's proof that the change organic and authentic, and it's harder to slip up (or easier to regain footing and recover) when the inevitable challenges arise--or at least I hope that's your experience.
I'm very glad you posted your story. Thank you, from the trenches.

@noodleann Many thanks.
The main reason I posted this here in a shopping forum is that irrespective of the reason behind my shopping, I strongly believe that what helped me may help others. That's why I chose to post.
Because if I can stop under painful circumstances than those that are trying to shop less and are not going through a difficult time have a great chance at success.
No matter what anyone says I will always choose light over dark and choose to help others the best way I can.
