I agree you need to be careful not to trust a total stranger .I have met some nuts in our Health Food Stores
That's a great solution.
I'm not sure it would have worked for me back in the days when I woke every 20 minutes during the night in a sweat for FIVE YEARS.
I was exhausted and pretty cranky.

I do talk to the man above a lot!!! But honestly 12 months of this, I have had better days but no GOOD days, up until 12 months ago I slept like a baby with absolutely NO issues with sleep (or other health issues) my entire life.
I think what I am so upset about is Dr's just sorta brush you off, give you a sleeping pill and are done. I don't want to take a sleeping pill the rest of my life?

I had such a good breakfast today I thought to myself, that if I ever had to have 1 meal, that breakfast would be it.

I got no relief from doctors and I did not want to take sleeping pills. Hated the hangover from the over-the-counter ones (when they even worked, which wasn't for long) and did not want a dependance on them, otc or prescription.
I went through it for years (and like you, slept like a baby for my entire life before) and then just came out the other side and now sleep very well most of the time.
I do think it was hormonal and so many things can affect your hormones that it's pretty much impossible to figure out exactly how to deal with it.
I do take 400-600 mg. magnesium (glycinate) prior to going to bed and have for the last almost 2 years. I think it helps me a lot.

I am thinking you are right! and at this time in our life it effects our thyroid, adrenals, all the hormones. I am really hoping taking the CALM Magnesium 3 times a day will help, they say spreading it out helps it work best so I will take it just before bed as my 3rd dose.
I am just not someone to take sleeping pills so it really kills me when I have to take them ![]()

Sandgirl, did you give up eggs altogether, and if so, have you noticed any changes?

a few days so far and so far absolutely no change.
I'm honestly on my 4th day with no sleep, my Dr is exploring other options, referring me to a neurologist and hormone specialist.
She wants me to try trazodone at night, low dose but gosh, I just don't want to be on a prescription, especially one that sounds like it could be hard coming off of it! ![]()

I do hope you find relief! I know lately I've had to take a melatonin to turn off the thinking when I'm in bed. I don't know if something that simple would work for you.
I was wondering if you are just too busy (you mentioned that), and simply aren't doing enough to unwind an hour or two or three before bed? I've got to have that unwind time, and then it's not always quick w/ the "sandman."
Try to follow all the other "rules": no caffeine or eating or exercise after a certain hour, going to bed at a designated time...

Have you tried yoga or pilates in the evening? I like to use my aeropilates around 9pm, I find I go to sleep quicker (usually 11pm). I read recently of a study that said mild exercise in the evening can help with sleep. That is opposite of what I heard for so many years.

I workout right after work and usually sit down around 6:30 and relax until bed at 8pm - I am up at 3am so bed is early for me.
I HAVE tried Yoga and pilates in the evening and even a 4:30pm sauna session, nothing seems to help, I do not feel stressed, the only thing stressing me out is not being able to sleep, today I am beyond rummy, actually feel lethargic today, slurring my words some ....urg
