Daydee - he made it sound like some foods cause a tolerance easier than other but any food eaten over and over, day in and day out for YEARS can cause a tolerance.
It did get me thinking, I used to eat the same cereal every single morning, I did for years (this was MANY years ago) well, when I started eating more protein based breakfast I dropped the cereal - well, every day I would get rashes on my arms, just thought I was sensitive, when I stopped the cereal I never got the rashes EVER again...? I never connected the dots till years later and this made me think of it again!

What exactly does that mean? Why would it cause insomnia?

IF I knew I would be the happiest girl alive right now!! Insomnia can be a sign (side effect) whatever you want to call it of a food intolerance, that's what he told me. I just figure why not eliminate it for a month and see what happens?? That's about all I can do is try? I love my eggs and I do weight training so, I am really going to miss the good clean protein!

Eggs so early in the day, how could that contribute to insomnia? even my coffee doesn't bother me unless I have a cup late afternoon.
I have a "crash" if I eat a banana or oatmeal or carbs in the morning.

Well, I'm HOPING it's not - but, AGAIN like stated a few times above, your body builds up a intolerance and the "symptom" could be insomnia from a build of of "whatever is in the eggs" that by body has built the intolerance to.
WHO KNOWS!!! I love my eggs so I am REALLY hoping this is not the case and it will be super hard for me not to eat them, I buy 3 dozen every week from my neighbor who raises chickens and has 24 laying hens, they are such awesome chickens, love those girls!

I wanted to add that I still think its just peri-menopause since I all of a sudden have the anxiety too.
But, the sleep is bad, I honestly cannot get myself to sleep (AT ALL) I sometimes go 2-3 days straight with no sleep and finally give into take a big dose of ZzzQuil or taking one of my Lunesta but, either of those only provide me with 3 (4 tops) hours sleep so sometimes I just don't feel it's worth putting that stuff in my body for 3 darn hours of sleep ![]()

Sounds like the doctor was trying to drum up business. You might want to run the theory by your regular GP.
I have insomnia and it was especially bad just before menopause. I found getting out of bed during sleepless times and having a small bowl of cereal and warm milk was helpful.
Best regards, insomnia is a real pain!

Your symptoms scream of hypothyroidism, but your Endo's came back OK...hummm. BTW, I still have my thinking cap on...maybe an elimination diet or a fast...then introduce items back in & see if that makes a difference? Keep us posted with your egg elimination. I think ALOT of us have this issue of sleeplessness...we have to keep the conversation going.

I just reread your original post and I would have a problem with any "doctor", "natural" or otherwise, who would give advice to someone he had just met in passing. You mentioned you think it might be hormonal. Have you seen your gynecologist? I am very familiar with the frustration of insomnia and that nightly decision of choosing sleeplessness or medication.
