Egg Intolerance causing my Insomnia? We shall find out......

So….. I eat Organic Eggs (2 full and 2 egg whites) every morning – I have for YEARS.
Those that know me on here know I suffer from INSOMNIA – Well, I was talking with a
Natural Doctor that so happened to be at the Health store I was at, we chatted – Very (very) long story
Short he told me, “DROP THE EGGS” – he said, I bet since you have been eating them every day for over
2 years now that your body has built up a tolerance and the result is INSOMNIA. Well, shoot I never thought
Of dropping my beloved eggs, dropped my oatmeal and wheat but kept my eggs.
Well – Starting tomorrow……..Eggs are out. Who knew???? Guess I’ll find out. Just had to share!!!!

I've never heard of that. Hope it works for you.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Me neither?? But, i do eat them EVERY SINGLE DAY, it's part of my routine and clean eating I've done for YEARS. My neighbor has organically fed, free range chickens so, I get fresh eggs daily!

I actually hope it doesn't work because I would (and will) miss my eggs and it's GREAT brain food too!!

LOL - well Winamac, lets hope to heck it's not my issue but, he told me by eating them EVERY SINGLE DAY (and honestly I haven't missed a day in YEARS and my blood work is text book good so, they are for sure doing some good)

you can build up a tolerance and everyone's tolerance is diff., he said I would feel perfectly fine, not other issues but the only side effect of it could be the insomnia and I'm just missing it..... I have tried to eliminate every thing else so this is the last thing ....really, I have tried EVERY THING ELSE URG

Let me know if it works if you stop eating them! I would be very curious. Heck, I eat greek yogurt, broccoli, etc. every day. No wonder I can't sleep!! uggghhhhhhh I've probably built up a tolerance to everything as I eat almost the same thing daily with a few exceptions.

ME TOO!!!! I'm boring that way, it makes it simple and I stick to my healthy eating that way. I do Eggs and a protein smoothie in the morning (it used to be oats....those are out now) then Veggies & Chicken for Lunch and Broccoli / Chicken or small salmon piece for dinner but, other than that I do not rotate much, sometimes at lunch it's Greek Yogurt if I don't pack my chicken and veggies - but yup, same ol every day!

Girlie! I sure hopes this works for you! I, too, have had issues with sleeplessness or waking up several times throughout the night...until I had an A-Ha moment recently.

I know you do Insanity & like to get a good sweat on...me too! I do indoor cycling 3-4 times a week...and usually redline it every time because it feels good!!

Couple months ago, my foot was hurting & I sat on the "workout sidelines" for a week/two...nothing cardio/endurance other than lifting weights. In that second week, I slept like a baby! Fast forward to this past weekend, I read a book about the benefits of low-intensity exercise. I discovered I was training too hard...well into the 80% of my Maximum Heart Rate!! So remembering how I slept so well while doing nothing, I'm making a concerted effort to slooooow down my cardio workouts....and see if I get the same sleep-thru-the-night results while exercising my heart. Only since Saturday, but last night I slept 5 hours straight w/out waking! I think I might be on to something!!

I know this has nothing to do w/ eggs, but had to chime in w/ my sleep results. Smiley Happy

I haven't done Insanity since last year (July, Aug, Sept) - my issues started almost the 1st of Nov. LAST year! urg. We must be running similar lives, I sprained my ankle 3 weeks ago walking my dogs, into emergency, on crutches for 4 days, hoping for about 10 and all I could do was upper body too (weights, pull ups, push ups etc) So, it got me thinking about pushing it too (plus the lack of energy from not sleeping) and I started doing Turbulance Training (you can google it) I got the download (you download it to your computer) and it's basically fat burning "good for you & your joints" workouts - he recommends 3-4 times a week - they are 30min each and he says on the other days just do a light walk or something active you enjoy but not to push yourself. The workouts are VERY do-able but you still feel like you worked yourself when you get done! BUT, I was doing basically nothing plus I sit for my job for 8 hours - for 10+ days and it didn't help me sleep, I was actually thinking maybe it would ;(

I have been having to take my Lunesta most nights, on the nights I don't take it (because I get stubburn and hate putting that icky stuff in me each night) I don't sleep Smiley Sad and have a total sleepless night.

Sooooo, I need to try other things? Blood work 3 times, saliva testing and a Endocronologist Dr and so far all my #'s are PERFECT and they don't know why I can't sleep. This has been a bummer of a year for me, totally robbed me of my life!

Re: Egg Intolerance causing my Insomnia? We shall find out......

I also suffer with insomnia and I don't eat eggs often. I did have 2 eggs for dinner tonight (since I had a large lunch). Wonder how I will sleep tonight? Also, I eat a lot of the same items frequently due to dietary restrictions, but eggs are not on that list.
