@coffee drinker   Bingo !  Exactly what I thought,  I am sure he saw to it that his brother got this drug !!!!    when he said he wasn't allowing Hydroxychloriquine to be given because it needs to be kept available for lupus patients that need it . Now I myself have an auto immune condition , not Lupus,  so I do understand how important meds are to those of us that have immune disorders.  I feel he had no right and is wrong to prevent those  that are very sick ,  maybe not long to live with this horrible virus to not be able to try this drug or any drug frankly !!!    I also feel that it is a wonderful drug for prevention if ones dr feels it should be prescribed and should not be up to him.  It may be good for the elderly or those that have compromised immune systems to take as a preventive perhaps.   I know the specialists  say it has been proven but it's been around for 65 yrs now with no major side effects and is readily available the President has ordered thousands so there is enough to go around for those that need or want it .  Right to try I say !

I also have an auto immune disease (not Lupus, Pulmonary Sarcoidosis) and luckilly now in remission, but I remember the Governor initially say that it would not be available because it was not proven effective for this virus!!!  I remember this because I thought, huh.... really?  After all the "antidotal" evidence that's been seen and reported?  And this is the first I've heard (and I listen to the Governor every morning) that he's worried Lupus patients won't be able to get it.....  This drug is being made by the millions, there will be plenty of it to go around....  I agree, The Right to Try!!!

Gov Cuomo has been ok with using these drugs from the start. He tried to tamp down on anyone who might try to prescribe it to friends and family just in case they needed. It's being used in NYC and out.

Please lets get stuff straight so I can limit my defence of the Governor, since outside of this I'm a bit ticked with him. Smiley LOL

@iwrite, unfortunately some folks, myself included, have to go out to the grocery store/pharmacy every week or so. I don't have any choice in the matter. If I don't go out to get them, DH, my housebound elderly mother and I won't get crucial medications. I am terrified each time I have to go, believe me! Unfortunately accidents just happen sometimes and they can happen right in our homes. Again, no choice about visiting the Emergency Room. I think most people "understand" the dangers of venturing outside their homes but for a lot of us, staying in and not leaving the house is just not an option for many reasons. You're lucky that you can stay safely in your home and not have to go out.

Re: Chris Cuomo

[ Edited ]

Mr. Cuomo's facial color has a little more pink in it tonight.  And his eyes look clearer to me.  He stated that his temperature is consistently lower today.  Hope he is feeling better and is back to relative good health soon.

well here's something right from the horses mouth "we think we have best health care system here in Ny we don't feel it will Be as  bad in NY as in other countries " yeah right !!  That was  March 2nd  .  Was  told Nivember 2015 that NY state would be 15,783 Short of ventilators in case of a influenza pandemic he purchased none that was recommended by task force .  Now he's pleading for them and has taken them from upstate and if they need them ....well they won't have them .  He wasted 600 million on a computer chip company that would employe hundreds of people upstate , then never built it that fell through. I have many family members who live there so I know this for a fact.      He only cares from Albany to downstate,  yet taxes  are  one of the highest in the country for our state .    He is an arrogant man that really does nothing for my state IMO,  I have no use for him as a governor and God forbid a president 😠 And that's my 2 cents😺

That was a terrible mistake not getting the ventilators when advised to.  Things will need to change in the future.

@Kitty Galore Chris stated last night he did not take that drug.
