I really like Lock & Lock and so I watch most presentations that I come across.

I am finding it a little hard to watch (really, listen to..) this new/old rep so far.

I feel for her because she has the extremely difficult task of following someone who was incredibly popular, personable  and excellent at her job.

Perhaps in time she will become more comfortable as she becomes the "familiar face" of the product.

I think it would help her a lot if she watched several of her on-air appearances and noted some habits that should be curtailed a little bit.

The constant repetition of "..And you know what?  I'm just going to go and...."   Is really grating.

She must use those phrases in every other sentence.

I think this lady seems like someone who is every bit as kind, pleasant and personable as the great Chris.

I hope she will grow comfortable with her spot and will establish herself as not only the brand ambassador but as a welcome and well-liked QVC fixture.

it's always something. When I moved to the Midwest I could not believe how many people mis pronounced roof, or root. Many say ruf. But that is regional.

At one time newcasters were lauded for keeping their regional accents. I guess not so much anymore.

How about Cuber? Anyone remember that?

@LSLshopsQVC

Travel the country. You'll hear a dozen pronunciations of escape and a LOT of other words. Not a big deal. Stop worrying about what others do and take care of what you do.

My dad has PhDs in English and History. He was great to grow up around - for many reasons - and he helped us with grammar etc.

Dad also said not to judge others based on pronunciation because it's regional and some people don't have the capability or opportunity to have learned it.

I was just thinking about spelling and proofreading on the posts when I came across this discussion.

This is why...

Showing results for escaping
Search instead for excaping

Excaping is not a word!  I believe this is the first time I have posted a reply to this type of post although you can count me in agreement with the posts that support proper speaking, spelling, punctuation and construction of a sentence in English....or any language for that matter.

If anyone heard me pronounce words selling something on QVC they would be appalled and start threads about the horrible way I say things.

I consider myself an educated individual but I grew up in Pittsburgh.  For those that don't know, there is a distinct accent and words used in that area.

I left the city many years ago but that accent and word pronunciation will never change.

That said, I would give someone a pass on pronunciation of words.

@Mersha   I also grew up in the Pittsburgh area.  Yes they have their own "take" on pronunciations and words to describe things.  I actually like the differences.
I just visited with my brother yesterday who has lived in the area his whole life.  I find listening to him very entertaining. 🤗

@Mersha   Same here...I have a masters degree and spent a lot of time writing papers and still do presentations for work.  I am originally from Baltimore and like you from Pittsburgh, the accent and word pronunciation is all it's own.  Omg yes, some of the way I say things would burn some folks ears but I'm proud of my "Baltimorese" and hope I never lose it hon!  My folks always say "payment" for "pavement" and I love that...how boring would it be if we all were the same and oh so proper.

Not a vendor i enjoy watching. She seems scatterbrained in her presentations. Hyper and yes her pronunciations of words are nails on a chalkboard to me. I like the suggestion a previous poster made about how she should watch the segments she is on to try and improve her performance. I’ve always thought QVC should have hired a “voice coach” to help the hosts with their elocution, pronunciation.

@Rockycoast

you'd think that  any/all of the product Reps would  evaluate how they " sound " .  It is very easy to modulate one's voice when speaking in public to groups . Most  college  courses in  public speaking  teach you   how to  speak in a tone and  volume so that  you  don't   turn off  your audience .  I don't know anyone who prefers a shrill or very high pitched voice or so muffled  that  customers can't understand  the sales pitch. For me the one  lady who  has a NJ accent  who sells  different types of foods is very hard to listen to ( not the  Rastatelli's lady )  . Another one is the award wining baker lady who was selling the  big Kitchen Aid mixers who has a shrill voice .
