I was appalled when I heard the interest rate for QVC cards this morning, was paying off my Bill, and when holding for Rep it said it was 32.5% amt. I am for sure going to curtail my spending here and HSN.

I still send checks in the mail....and the last two months they have said they have not received them...hence making my life stressful. After many calls and then having to pay for stopping my check and QVC dunning my account, I have had enough! Both times the check was already there and somehow overlooked etc. They did take off the $30 late fee thankfully.

Thanks, I guess I needed to blow off some steam, and I know how I want to go forward with my money.

Have a great day and wonderful year ahead.Smiley Happy

Sending checks in the mail? Think many places are trying to force paperless.

@Bellajay   I'm still amazed that people still write checks to purchase items especially at the supermarket??  Using a credit card is a lot safer BUT it has to be paid off every month.  All the credit cards that I know of charge exhorbitant rates. Stay within what can comfortably be paid off every month.

A bank manager recently (last week) told me banks hate checks, and cannot wait for them to be totally discarded and everything made to be electronic.

That day is coming.  Some analysts say checks will be obsolete as soon as 2026, or sooner.

@Group 5 minus 1       Uncle Sam still takes checks(!!!)    Stores all want a debit or credit card around here.

I use nothing but my debit card, which has the same protection as my credit cards.   I don't manually pay bills and haven't for years.  Everything is set up to pay automatically, a significant savings in postage alone.

the Q card interest rate has no affect unless you don't pay it in full monthly.

not sure what paying by check has to do with it.

To me, the bigger issue is people buying things they can't afford. If you can't pay off the bill every month, then shopping channels/sites should be avoided.

I think eventually all checks will be history and all money (coins and paper) will be history.  Maybe not in my lifetime...but I think eventually.  And everything will be cards.

Everything electronic.

@ruthbe  Some of my family live in Australia. They were here this summer to visit. When they saw me pay for an item with cash they said you still use cash? All they use there are credit cards, no cash or checks. They said they do keep a bit of cash but rarely need to use it. I didn't tell them I also write checks for some of my bills.
